Introduction With great honor and a sense of responsibility, I took on the challenge of managing the International Relations Superintendence (SRI) of the State University of Maranhão (UEMA) in 2023. In this regard, I would like to thank the invitation from our rector, Prof. Walter Canales Sant’Ana, as well as the legacy of the former superintendent, Prof. Thales Passos de Andrade. It is important to note that I have been blessed with a team that strives for excellence in its efforts to promote internationalization at UEMA. We hope that in 2024, UEMA’s internationalization efforts will be expanded, of course, within budgetary and infrastructural limitations. In this edition of the magazine, we report the main mobility indicators and international agreements of UEMA, mention some actions developed throughout the year, highlight important achievements, and bring some articles that challenge us to reflect on internationalization from the perspective of a public institution of higher education located in what some experts call the Global South. Enjoy reading!
