Cast your minds way back last semester when more than 1,000 peeps were absolute keen beans for Drake’s 'VIEWS FROM THE 6' listening party on Facey – only at UNSW, of course. Yes, it was a thing you guys, but hold on, we’re not going home just yet. The 'BLITZ' hotline got blinging as we had a little heart-to-heart with Thomas Bevan, President of UNSW’s Drake Appreciation Society.
CAN YOU GIVE US A RUNDOWN OF HOW DRAKESOC CAME ABOUT? After a night out, a few mates and I found ourselves lying on the lawn in someone’s apartment, just vibing to Drizzy and having the best time. The next day we started talking about how we needed more friends who were into Drake, so we decided something was needed here. YOU’VE ALSO HAD A DEDICATION PARTY AND A LISTENING SESSION FOR HIS 'VIEWS' ALBUM LAST SEMESTER. WHAT DOES DRAKESOC HAVE IN STORE THIS SEMESTER? Much more! Last sem we were still working out what this actually was. This sem we will have hoodies and caps go on sale. We’ll be hosting a warehouse party and have a few other goodies planned. SWEET. ASIDE FROM PAYING HOMAGE TO DRIZZY, WHAT ELSE DOES DRAKESOC INVOLVE? Breakup counselling, crying sessions — basically meeting new people and having a good time. ANOTHER ONE OF YOUR SERVICES IS A LETTER WRITING CLASS. HAVE PEOPLE ACTUALLY SENT “I STILL LOVE YOU” LETTERS TO THEIR EXES? Not with our classes, but Drizzy does that to people. Don’t listen to ‘Doing It Wrong’ while you’re in a relationship or ‘Marvin’s Room’ while you’re not.
SO HOW CAN WE BE A BETTER VERSION OF OURSELVES THROUGH DRAKE? Emulate the man. Who doesn’t want to be kind, buff, extraordinarily narcissistic, hugely talented, famous and rich? COULD YOU PUT TOGETHER A DRAKE STARTER PACK? NAME THREE GO-TO DRAKE SONGS TO LISTEN TO. ‘Best I Ever Had’ is classic Drake and it was his first big song and the one that introduced him to the world. ‘Headlines’ is rapping Drake – one of the best songs off his second album and a song that every Drake fan can rap from start to finish. ‘Hold On We’re Going Home’ is singing Drake. If you’re not into rap, this shows the other smoother/dancier side to his music. NOW I’VE JUST READ 'AUBRIH' (RIHANNA + DRAKE) IS REPORTEDLY A THING AGAIN? DID YOU SEE IT COMING? Well, to quote a song that came out last year: “She said, ‘I heard you back with you know who’; I told her, ‘Girl, I’m always back with you know who’’. They’ve never really been a massive secret and I feel like most people’s reaction is that of a proud moment or something and also a lot of cringe every time you see them dancing together.

He loves pools. He has a weird obsession with them. He’s building a huge one in Toronto at the moment. BEST DRAKE COLLABORATION? ‘Forever’ with Lil Wayne, Eminem and Kanye – I think.
