Managing Our Impact: ARC’s Environmental Commitment
Powered by the Sun ARC is committed to finding sustainable and innovative solutions for many of our energy needs. Solar panels are just one of the solutions we are using to help manage our impact on the environment. In many of ARC’s facilities throughout Alberta and Northeast British Columbia we use solar panels to power chemical injection pumps. In the past these pumps would have been powered by a motor running on natural gas. Turning to solar panels as an alternative energy source provides many benefits to the environment and to ARC’s operations: • Greenhouse gas emissions are reduced by 100-200 tonnes per year for each pump installed. This is equivalent to the annual emission of approximately 40 vehicles • Noise pollution and unpleasant odours that occurred with the use of natural gas are eliminated • A safer more reliable means of equipment control is provided, contributing to a better work environment for employees and contractors To learn more about ARC’s commitment to the environment take a look at our Corporate Responsibility Report.
