Yacht Design is all about creating a dynamic, artful watercraft with nothing more than your imagination, technical skills, and a computer. The design, shape and materials defined by the designer and used in the construction of a boat can make it more energy efficient, cost effective and aesthetically pleasing. Yacht designers supervise and design the construction of luxury recreational watercraft. They plan ships in accordance with specifications that establish the basic size, weight and speed of a yacht. They design the waterlines and sectional curves of hulls to establish gravitational centers and buoyancy.

Education: meeting trade experts in themed exhibition areas

The organizers are therefore revamping the Dockside Area, the Sailing Yacht Area and the Yacht Design & Innovation Hub, all three of which were launched in 2021.

The 2022 edition is set to confirm the status of the MYS’s “seducation” program, which was launched last year. This threeyear plan of action is designed to attract a new generation of yachting clients, thanks to two core concepts: “education” and “seduction” (aka “seducation”).

The show’s themed exhibition areas have been redistributed more efficiently, making it easier for the new wave of yachting customers to meet experts in their respective fields and to discover the range of products and services required to successfully complete their yachting project.

The Monaco Yacht Show has announced new developments in its themed exhibition areas, once again proving it will immerse visitors in the world of super yachting.

LIGHTINGDESIGN

Designing With Light & Shadow. Have you ever taken a moment to notice a sunbeam streaming through a window, seeing how the light changes the colors of objects in the room and casts shadows? No? I’d venture a guess that most of us are so used to looking at light and shadow that we rarely take the time to think about how they work. But whether we’re consciously aware of them, light and shadow are visual cues that we all interact with every day they give us information about shape, distance, position, texture, and other physical and tactileLightingqualities.design is partly a mathematical process and partly a series of assumptions based on the needs of the user . Taking a priceless piece of ART for example and transforming it so the client sees it in a different way, is a result of a tremendous amount of work and research. COLOR RENDERING INDEX. Choosing lights for your project can be quite technical. Either you are building an apartment, a new home Holoway

a restaurant, a hotel, any kind of commercial business, or an art gallery, it is important to understand the different aspects of lights, one , of which is the Color Rendering Index, and why it’s so important to achieving your goal in your project. With the advances in LED technology, there are many LED light sources on the market that could potentially light your project. But, before splashing out your cash, you need to find out not only that the LED you have in mind is bright enough and has an appropriate optical performance but, more importantly, the color performance of the LED. How lighting design effects, the overall design result? Since very early times, the wonder of color has played an important role in the human approach to the exterior experience of the world. In nature, color is considered a key characteristic. Its main reference is however to the aesthetics of the outside appearance of things, not to the visible expression of their substance because Western culture relates substance to shape and it conceives measurement, meaning the geometry, as one of the most effective instruments in the knowledge of the physical world.

As an architectural interior designer, who designed commercial residential and major hospitality projects, I realized from the beginning of my career that rightthe exposure of the visual stimulations of the interior environment played a major impact to the success of the overall result. But nothing was looking as good as it was in my rendering computer screen when I was delivering my project. The need for a custom lighting designer to illuminate correctly my work was imperative. I was so excited watching how a calculated lighting scenario could change the overall result of my work that soon I found myself studying mathematical lighting calculations and lighting design techniques and I turned to be a very passionate lighting design specialist. I am learning something new every day because lighting design is an engineering science with endless abilities and applications. It’s a science that needs discipline patience and much intelligence. Every project is a new adventure. Every project is a new challenge. The great result is beneficial for the owner of the project as much as it is for the architectural and interior design team. Adds VALUE to the project. The great result has to do with how well the colors of the interior design materials and visual stimulations are perceived from the eyes of the guests.

I really want the best overall result in my projects. But what is the best? It is the lighting that illuminates the task for safety an good productivity, creates a bright and pleasant interior, avoids visual discomfort through glare and flicker and uses energy wisely.

A lightingdesigner will analyze your space, the users and their needs in order to provide a holistic lighting solution that considers many factors likeglare, visual comfort, your budget, energy consumption, the environment, lighting standards, and light pollution among other aspects, lighting distortion, interior color quality appearance, light loss factor, lightingquality maintenance, and many more...

The power of attraction. Lighting design is a relatively new field in the construction industry, and it may not be obvious why having a lightingdesigner on the design team is necessary. Here are five of the most important benefits. WhyshouldIpayforalightingdesigner?

www.arcondesignllc.com

2.Increasedsales. Wherever you shop, the right lighting will help you attract customers into your store, focus and highlight the products while making them appear as attractive as possible which will eventually have positive effects on your sales.

3.Reducedsickdays. Lighting can directly affect alertness and stress. By reducing stress and increasingvisual comfort people will feel better and be less likely to be absent from work.

4.Improvedproductivity. Light that varies with the natural course of the day will stimulate the people in a space and increase creativity well being.Too much light will on the other hand not lead to increased productivity and glaremay be detrimental or even directly dangerous for the staff. www.arcondesignllc.com

1.Energysavings.A carefully planned lighting installation may save significant amounts of energy compared to a not so well-planned installation. For existing installations this can be significantenough to give you a very short ROI.

5.Reducedmaintenance.

Old installations can be heavy in maintenance with light sources failingfrequently and significantaccumulation of dirt on reflectors and diffusers. Modern lighting equipment have significantly longer service life than it had only 15 years ago and the service occasions can be better planned and budgeted. The light fittings may even be able to tell you when they need service. But I don't careabout lights. Perhaps not, but your body and wallet still does. So do peoplearound you. There is plenty of research performed around the world regarding the effects of light on stress, orientation and circadian cycles that control alertness and rest. By creating the right mood and focusing on the right products, lightingcan also increasesales and productivity in shops or workplaces which will affect the bottom line www.arcondesignllc.com

In this century, eating out has as much to do with entertainment as with food. Restaurant owners, architects and designers now days create effective, themed and spectacular interiors, which are meant to seduce, impress and surprise us. It is a demanding job to design a room for guests to experience gastronomy, when that room is a restaurant’s space. This task requires a successful concept, but also plenty or creativity and sensitivity. A central theme in this process is “spatial definition”, or the design milieu, which includes the guest in a location and meets his expectations of a quality experience as well as his desires to feel personally involved. Sometimes, the framework for socializing, enjoyment and sensuality is created by totally simple rooms, sometimes, it is created by building up dreams that are translated into a room’s architecture . The search for visions and contents is influenced by anticipating the highest possible attraction level. Turning dreams into reality is often the work of star designers, who design the most exciting restaurants. They test architecture’s fascination as adventure and the seduce power of vibrant urbanity. Restaurant venues become the designer’s showroom and the public’s stage. Despite globalization and stylistic unity-the striking thing is the different unique design, that ARCON DESIGN is well known for, and we will include in our AD iDesign Magazine Issue concepts we created, and we are very proud of their final outcome.

WHAT EXACTLY DOES AN INTERIOR ARCHITECT DO?

A great analogy to describe the role of an interior architect is that they "blend art and science together", reimagining an interior space. An interior architect works with an existing structure and makes changes through considered design alterations. These changes can be anything from minor updates, such as the repositioning of doors or walls, to

‘Interior design’ is a phrase we’ve all heard many times before. It’s something we’ve become familiar with when browsing through glossy magazines, scrolling through social media and from regular mentions on some of our favorite television shows. But ‘interior architecture’? Not so much. Interior architecture, as a subject, is often confused with architecture, interior design and interior decoration. In simple terms, interior architecture is a combination of interior design and architecture. Whilst an architect looks to design the framework of a building, and advise in its construction, an interior architect looks to update an interior by reconstructing or reshaping a space.

The role of an interior designer is very complex. It is often referred to as the only profession in design which interacts with all areas of the industry, including furniture, textile and product designers, and of course, architects.

gutting the interior to a bare-bones space with the intention of a full redesign. Instead of focusing simply on the main structure or soft furnishings like sofas , an interior architect considers how the interior will be functional for the homeowner or for a business. As part of the role of an interior architect, you will also be expected to understand a building's structure and other regulations, including having knowledge of plumbing and electrical systems.

SO, WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN INTERIOR ARCHITECTURE AND INTERIOR DESIGN?

www.arcondesignllc.com

Many interior, degree level, design courses now expect students to understand the more technical elements of the design world. This, paired with major advances in technology and the option for further education on the subject, means qualified interior designers don’t just have knowledge of enhancing an interior space. They also have a level of understanding surrounding the construction of a building, including structural and spatial design, similar to that of an architect. With this in mind, the two roles can nowadays very often overlap. In some cases, interior designers may have the knowledge to advise in certain areas of interior architecture. Whereas Interior Architects will always have both technical and design capabilities.

WHEN WOULD A PROJECT NEED INTERIOR ARCHITECTURE?

www.arcondesignllc.com

An interior architect's main role is to ensure that improvements to an existing building interior meets the needs of those using it. This means that interior architects are often called on in relation to extensions, loft and basement conversions, helping to maximize the potential of a home or commercial space that is already in use. Interior architects will create 3d walkthroughs of a project to allow clients to visualise how the new space will look once it’s complete.

www.arcondesignllc.com

your

As discussed, due to the overlap in the professions, interior designers are well versed in utilizing spaces, but need to call on an interior architect if you envisage work will need more structural attention.

In selecting the winner of the coveted Motor Yacht of the Year award, the judges were faced with the task of choosing a single yacht from the nine individual winners of the Semi-Displacement and Displacement Motor Yacht classes. After lengthy debate, the secret ballot revealed VIVA to be the winner by a large margin and while many factors influenced this decision, it was Viva’s consistency in all aspects of the judgement that took her into the lead. Such all round excellence, the judges felt, was largely due to the detailed consideration given to every aspect of the vessel during her 12-year gestation period, a time when the owner’s knowledge and complete involvement with specifications paid dividends. As a result, this yacht has it all, from an attractive exterior design with superb deck spaces to an enviable beach club and a modern interior that connects with the outside through huge windows, plus a general arrangement plan entirely suited to the needs of the owner, guests and crew. Viva also lacks nothing on the technical and operational side. Her sustainably minded power and propulsion system, optimal technical areas, a practical tender garage, excellent living and working facilities for her crew, and a superlative quality of build sets her apart as a very special yacht and a worthy winner of the 2022 Motor Yacht of the Year Award.

The title of Sailing Yacht of the Year is awarded to the yacht that is considered by the judges to be the most notable of the class winners in this year’s sailing yacht categories. These two winners were the 44.6-metre sloop Path, built by Baltic Yachts in Finland to the design of Bremerhaven-based judel/vrolijk & co design and Engineering, and the smaller 35.8 meter Perseverance 1, from the drawing board of the Netherlands based Dykstra Naval Architects and also built by Baltic Yachts with interior design by deVosdeVries Design. Both yachts were conceived as fast cruisers with the aim of circumnavigating the globe in stages and, as their owners both invested a great deal of thought and experience into their designs, choosing the winner was a difficult task for the judges. During discussions it was clear that although the judges admired Path as an enviably well built and designed cruiser/racer and praised her for her significant use of solar power, they narrowly selected the smaller Perseverance 1 as the Sailing Yacht of the Year. Additionally, she was praised for her efficient diesel electric propulsion system and well integrated technology that takes her batteries to full charge in just 4.5 hours and permits eight to nine hours of silent running at anchor.

The standout winner was Here Comes the Sun, a 89 metre motor yacht built by Amels (Damen Yachting) and rebuilt by the same shipyard. This is a much-loved family yacht, and the owner’s intent for the rebuild was to maintain the relevance of its facilities to his family, which spans three generations. This necessarily called for additional length, but he was clear that the extension should not be obvious and, where possible, the original interior by Winch Design should remain. Two splendid VIP cabins were added, with new balconies accessed through curved sliding doors; the bulwarks were lowered; a seven-metre swimming pool with twin swim jets inserted flush with the main deck aft was installed; a helideck was added to the sundeck; the beach club was reworked; the master with a new open-plan bath and dressing room; the crew mess and lounge were suite remodeled revised; tenders and toys replaced; and the whole yacht had a stunning new paint job. In the judges’ view, the result was superb, meeting all the owner’s requests in stylish fashion, while the additional length not only blended seamlessly with her lines, but adds to the undoubted elegance of this yacht.

In the last few years, however, she had suffered neglect and was bought for a song by her current owner, who restored the vessel in Colombo, Sri Lanka, with the help of Aashim Mongia, whose Mumbai based company West Coast Marine Yacht Services carried out restoration work in 2006. This latest, beautifully executed restoration was undertaken by painters and joiners flown in from Mumbai, together with specialists from Spain and Portugal, bringing Kalizma back to life. The judges considered that she was more than worthy of a Special Award.

Cruising the Caribbean, Seahawk was trapped in Bonaire with the island’s ports closed due to Covid 19 restrictions. Both animal lovers, Adam and his wife Gisela decided to make the most of their enforced stay and discovered an animal sanctuary in need of help. They promptly made a donation and got down to mixing concrete and shovelling sand with their crew. The couple’s plan was to cruise for seven years, fulfilling a wish to assist marine science and coastal community welfare. So, after restrictions lifted, they returned to the Caribbean, where a large donation was made to St Vincent’s Health Authority. They went on to support YachtAid Global with aid in the Galápagos Islands and help marine conservationists Migramar in investigating pelagic migration patterns. The judges felt that the owners’ philanthropic aims are outstanding and well worthy of a Special Award.

The 5 storey Downtown Circle would sit on a series of columns 550 metres high and run for 3 kilometres around Dubai's Burj Khalifa. In a statement on the purely conceptual project, ZNera said: "As a response to the dilemma of how to build densely while retaining livability, the downtown circle project establishes a sustainable and self sufficient vertical urbanism. As a singular mega building complex, it aims to create a hyper efficient urban center that gives back to the environment. It offers an alternative to the singular and unconnected high rises found in most metropolitan areas." Images by Pict own, courtesy of ZNERA.

It is intended as a tool not only for the consumer, but also for those seeking inspiration in their own design Designwork.since the millennium has witnessed a liberating pluralism, and for the past years the design community has been in a state of flux, with no one style or trend being dominant. There has been a slow breaking down of the barriers between disciplines, cultures, roles, and skills: this is a period in which there is a place for craftbased, low-tech, individualistic approaches, as well as for massproduced high-tech. The concept of ‘’design for all “ introduces trends that have grown steadily in recent years: the increased democratization of design, the rise of superficial styling and the birth of the design personality steadily in recent years. As we often explain to our clients: materials are the character actors of the projects. In today’s globalized, rootless world, design needs history more than ever. We can create the new design history in every point level. Remarkable new trend ideas can transform our everyday life, but we must produce only what can improve life, and what can make this world a better place. Spices: Therapeutic Potential in Cardiovascular Health

Dietary factors play a key role in the development as well as prevention of certain human diseases, including cardiovascular diseases. Currently there has been an increase in global interest to identify medicinal plants that are pharmacologically effective and have low or no side effects for use in preventive medicine. Culinary herbs and spices are an important part of human nutrition in all the cultures of the world. There is a growing amount of literature concerning the potential benefits of these herbs and spices from a health perspective especially in conferring protection against cardiovascular diseases.

Spices are seeds, fruit, roots, bark, berries, buds, or vegetable substance, and have been used primarily for flavoring, coloring or preserving food since antiquity. Major spices produced and used in the subcontinent, especially India and Pakistan, are black pepper, cloves, cinnamon, flax seeds, cardamom, poppy, fenugreek, cumin, sesame, fennel, carom, coriander, turmeric, tamarind, ginger, onion, garlic, and red chilies. These spices are a hidden treasure of numerous therapeutic components like thymol, curcuminoids, eugenol, zingiberene, piperine, alpha crocin, and are helpful for therapy against various health disorders. Moreover, these possess pharmacological activities including antimicrobial, antioxidant, anticarcinogenic, antiemetic, antihypertensive, antimutagenic, antidiabetic, anticonvulsive, antifungal, antiviral, chemoprotective, and prebiotic activities. Spices are widely used in food products, like syrups, jams, preserves, pickles, biscuits, and candies. Additionally, modern food technologies have made possible extraction and utilization of active nutrients from spices for their addition to processed foods. This chapter will comprehensively elaborate various Asian spices, along with their therapeutic role and food applications. Furthermore, this chapter will explore the multiplicity of potentially beneficial nature of spices, as well as the possible strategies to obtain maximum outcomes without exposure to undesirable side effects.

Homes on water are certainly not new, and they’ve been gaining even more ground in recent years due to rising sea levels and the realization that the safest place to be for coastal residents might be on water, not on solid land. This is one such floating home, but for the rich. Floating Seahorse Villa Is the First of Its Kind, Has Underwater Bedroom and Coral Garden by Elena Gorgan

As real estate vlogger Enes Yilmazer said in a video from earlier this year, these villas are seen as investment opportunities and, as such, they will only attract tourists when the nearby developments are complete.

The

A float house can be a lot of things, from a nature home that’s a cheaper and more sustainable alternative to a brick-and-mortar house, to a villa that is the epitome of upscale but still cheaper way of living.

The one percenters of the world don’t have to worry about being left out or, even worse, having to mingle with the normies: they too get their sustainable floating house. And it’s the most stunning thing ever.

It’s called the Floating seahorse, and it’s part of The Heart of Europe project in The World artificial archipelago off the coast of Dubai.

Floating Seahorse is a development by Kleindienst Group comprising 131 such villas or, as Kleindienst puts it, “a truly unique underwater product which is the first of its kind in the world, […] an exclusive marine style retreat (essentially a boat without propulsion) which has its own plot in the Arabian Gulf.”

The concept was unveiled at the 2015 edition of the Dubai Boat Show, with construction on the first units started in late 2016. By the end of last year, handover of all 131 units was completed and, while the developer says they’re ready to accept residents and visitors, it doesn’t look like people have moved in already.

Poetry was the way I channeled the hardest days and the most dreadful nights into something I could reflect on. There was so much torturing my mind, I needed a safe place to write it down and let it go. After journaling all my inner, deepest and unacceptable truths of myself, it was suddenly easier to move on from it. I feel like a lot of us choose to ignore things that challenge us, make us sad or feel something unwanted. But the reality of it all is that with ignorance there never comes acceptance; therefore, your mind will keep circling around the same thing you wanted to forget. If it wasn't for my best friends, I would have never recognized that running eventually gets so tiring that you end up drowning when you stop. They were the ones who also taught me that you shouldn't stop loving so deeply just because love isn't all you were given. Instead of running, learn! Instead of ignoring, accept!Instead of hating, forgive! Instead of fear, choose hope! That's what this unexpected path showed me. And once I let go of all those negative, triggering, miserable feelings and thoughts, I was clear of what I needed and wanted from that day on. So, then, I found it! This book is still hard for me to share, as there's parts of me I never even wanted to let others see. But after a while of talking about these difficult times and topics, I realized we're kind of all similar and maybe more people than I know of will find this book helpful, relatable and empowering. Cause there's indeed light at the end of every tunnel. We just must keep going till we reach it. The book is available on AMAZON.
