YOUSSEF HASSABO Architecture Student
TA for 3 Design Courses (Intro to design, Design Studio 1, and Design Studio 2). My Love for being a TA is not about the love of teaching but of the love of learning, when I TA, I feel I get more insights, more ideas on how to work and what I could be missing out on. I believe architecture is all about learning and experimenting creating new forms designing new ideas, and outuputting everything you know to create something meaning ful in the end.
My name is Youssef Hassabo I am currently a 21 year old student at the American University in Cairo. My Passion and Love belongs to this major in hopes of becomming a future architect who sets standards for other architects to follow. I believe that design itself is a language that touches on many levels, whether good or bad. However, This major is not my only passion, I also enjoy reading and experimenting, my favorite book was the winner stands alone, it tells the story of a man who gave up everything to succeed love, and all. which is the truth to succeed there is an optimum level of sacrafice to be done. As well as my second love goes to my dog, the purest love I have, sometimes in this major it is hard to make time for him; however, I try my best to create time for his love. I also am a student

02 Outdoor Pavilion SSE Gateway: An Eagle’s story
The main idea of the project involves a gateway to the SSE building from the Bartlett Plaza that allows for interaction among students from SSE and possibly other students on campus. Its sensitive location at the SSE plaza entrance, beside the student union booth, and leading to a variety of spaces, corridors and courts within SSE all give the pavilion a unique character as well as a challenging role. The (in)visibility of the pavilion is one of its main challenges, where both an iconic element and a sensitive approach are coupled to accommodate the multitude if activities and dynamic flow of students within this significant location on campus, allowing for behavioral patterns of both quick unobstructed pass-by circulation and slow-paced dwelling within a hub of student expression and interaction. required to design and model a 2.0m X 2.0m X 3.0m pavilion that captures state-of-the-art innovation in parametric design, and represents a feature on campus that allows for social interaction among students. Working in groups, you are to propose design alternatives for the pavilion based on a specific inspiration from nature as a design driver and a relevant generative strategy. More specifically, you are required to observe the phenomenon of growth in nature as a source of inspiration. Proposals should take into consideration a variety of aspects such as functionality, spatial allocation and site compliance, visibility, circulation, and formal expression.

Reflections: Project 1 and 2 have allowed me to explore Grasshopper not just in this course, but other courses, to create newer and more dynamic forms, with ease, by creating a parametric component that can easily be edited and reapplied at different forms. While also testing new Tectonic ideas, and experimenting, as well as to experiment in structure to create more meaningful compositions.
