From Friday Flights to the

Annual PIER

Monterey

The Monterey Chapter has had an eventful six months. Our Friday Night tasting included gatherings at Scheid and De Tierra Tasting rooms. Both of these venues are located in Carmel-by-the-Sea along with another dozen or so tasting rooms all located within walking distance of each other. Galante, Windy Oaks and Dawn’s Dream, our other winery members are all within a stone’s throw.

PARTY

We have emulated the Lodi chapter and organized a Friday Knights’ Flights program that includes a flight of wines coupled with cheese and crackers. Wines are offered at wine club prices and the members bring their purchased bottles to local restaurants for an evening of food and wine extraordinaire. On September 1st we had the honor of hosting long time member Master Knight Eric Wente at the home of Ernie and Candy Scalberg. The stunning array of Wente wines were personally presented by Eric. A multitude of offerings included Wente’s premiere label Nth Degree. Wente also offers an Artist Series of wines in addition to their flagship Wente label. Close to a dozen wines were offered and the membership was duly impressed with the breadth and quality of the wines. To complement the wine was the magic of Master Lady, Chef Wendy Brodie. Chef Brodie engaged a number of volunteers to offer a mozzarella bar, a risotto station, bouillabaisse and smoked brisket. The food was exceptional. We were honored with
