Robin G. Jones
Executive Director, Arbella Insurance Foundation
The Arbella Insurance Foundation strives to achieve significant change and empower those around us to make a difference. By combining financial support with volunteerism, we extend our reach and inspire meaningful collaboration among Arbella Insurance Group employees, independent agents, and nonprofit organizations.
The Foundation continued these efforts in 2024, donating $2.2 million to more than 500 charities addressing issues of hunger, homelessness, access to education and health care, immigration, and more. What a year it was!
Arbella and Bearingstar employees, along with their agents, are critical partners in our mission. They demonstrate their deep commitment to their communities by highlighting areas of great need. And when they utilize Arbella’s Matching Gift Program, their donations have double the impact. In 2024, the Foundation, employees, and agents contributed $260,000 to local nonprofit organizations, providing vital assistance to the causes that are most meaningful to them.
We continue to prioritize fairness, respect, and human rights in our charitable giving. Through the Foundation’s Social Justice Initiative, we donated $740,000 in grants to organizations confronting economic mobility, housing, and education inequities, as well as other social and racial injustices.
This year, the Foundation proudly celebrates its 20th anniversary, a meaningful milestone made possible by the generosity and dedication of Arbella employees, agents, and community organizations. Their continued commitment remains at the heart of our mission, creating a perpetual ripple effect of compassion and support.
Over the past two decades, we’ve created a philanthropic foundation of trust, partnership, and impact that continues to grow year after year. We look forward to the future knowing that Arbella’s employees, agents, and our partner organizations are serving their communities and making profound, lasting changes.
Sincerely,
Robin G. Jones

John F. Donohue Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Arbella Insurance Foundation
In2024, inflation and economic uncertainty contributed to a nationwide decline in charitable giving. However, these circumstances did not deter the Arbella Insurance Foundation from continuing to provide critical support to nonprofits throughout New England.
The greatest challenge for many in our communities continues to be a lack of daily essentials. We remained steadfast collaborators to those working to address issues of homelessness, hunger, and access to health care and education throughout our region. We also expanded our impact as we partnered with and supported several additional social justice-focused organizations.
The passion, generosity, and commitment of Arbella employees and independent agents is what makes our positive impact possible. Last year, employees donated even more volunteer hours than they did in 2023, actively engaging in clothing drives, food distribution, walks and runs, and more. Arbella’s employees and agents also introduced us to new charitable organizations in need of support and attention.
We anticipate that the momentum we’ve gained over the past 20 years will continue to grow. Arbella’s employees and agents will continue to donate their time and resources to the nonprofits that mean the most to them. And the Foundation and its work will remain a vital part of our brand, our culture, and who we are. Arbella will always be Here. For Good.
Sincerely,
John F. Donohue

“Volunteering through the Foundation enables me to extend my reach and provide support to those experiencing food insecurity, homelessness, and other economic and social conditions. It’s also helped me build relationships with coworkers I might otherwise not get to know in my day-to-day role.”
Jonathan Hatch, Financial Accountant, Arbella Insurance Group
Arbella Insurance Group employees are deeply passionate about their communities, and they generously donated their time and financial resources throughout 2024. Their impact reached nearly 200 nonprofits, with a remarkable increase in volunteerism and support for meaningful causes. Employee engagement grew significantly from 2023, demonstrating a powerful and growing commitment to making a difference in the communities Arbella serves.
More than 400 Arbella employees participated in 65 volunteer events. They took part in on-site opportunities like knitting and crocheting hats for the Ellie Fund, painting for Hospital Art, and making blankets for Annie’s Kindness Blankets. They also volunteered their time off-site, processing clothing donations at Catie’s Closet, assembling bags of groceries at Interfaith Social Services, and planting flags for the Massachusetts Military Heroes Fund on the Boston Common.
In addition to volunteering their time, employees made significant financial contributions to charitable organizations throughout the year. Our annual “Pink Day” event culminated in more than $45,000 raised for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. For 17 years, our “Let’s Drive Out Hunger” program has thrived, with employees and the Foundation donating to hundreds of food pantries throughout New England.
In April, more than 80 employees participated in the Interfaith Social Services Stop the Stigma 5K in Quincy, Massachusetts. The event supports those who are experiencing mental health challenges and promotes and encourages acceptance. Together, employees and the Foundation raised more than $14,000 to support mental health counseling services through the Foundation’s Employee Charity Event Program.
The passion and generosity of Arbella’s employees extend the Foundation’s capacity to do good, empowering us to deepen our support in the places that need it most.

“The Arbella Insurance Foundation helps independent agents give back to their communities. For the past several years, our agency has organized a Thanksgiving food drive for a local food bank. In 2024, we were able to raise over $5,000 with the help of the Foundation’s 1:1 match.”
Joseph Padula, Managing Director of Property and Casualty, The Hilb Group of New England
Ascompassionate leaders who actively work to strengthen their communities, Arbella Insurance Group’s independent agents are critical to the Foundation’s success. We are committed to supporting the organizations they care about most.
We take pride in amplifying the impact of independent agents’ generosity through both matching gifts and sponsorships that support the causes they’re personally committed to. Many of our independent agent partnerships date back to the Foundation’s inception in 2005.
In 2024, through our “Let’s Drive Out Hunger” program, agents joined forces with the Foundation to donate more than $100,000 to 63 organizations addressing food insecurity. Additionally, agents partnered with us in the Dana-Farber/Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon, raising nearly $30,000 for cancer care and research. Together with the Foundation, designated agents donated more than $210,000 to countless nonprofits using the matching gift program.
The Foundation supports the strong community relationships of Arbella’s independent agents, who contribute their time and resources to areas of greatest need. Through our collective efforts, we’re creating lasting impact and helping communities flourish.

“The Arbella Insurance Foundation’s generous funding helped us provide safe housing, trauma-informed care, and critical resources to individuals and families escaping abuse. In a time of growing need, the Foundation’s partnership gave us the stability to continue this lifesaving work. We’re deeply grateful for their commitment to building safer, stronger communities.”
Vanessa Volz, President and CEO, Sojourner House
Unique challenges require unique solutions. We’re proud to work with organizations that continually find new ways to strengthen our communities.
The Ellie Fund delivers essential services to breast cancer patients, including prepared and delivered meals, transportation to medical appointments, and childcare reimbursement. The Foundation connected the Ellie Fund with the Greater Lawrence Family Health Center (GLFHC), and together they expanded their services there. As a result, the Ellie Fund was able to advance its mission in this key Gateway City, serving as a learning platform for replicating its work statewide.
Based in Providence, Rhode Island, Sojourner House offers assistance, advocacy, and housing for victims and survivors of domestic and sexual violence. The Foundation provided funding to help establish Safe House, Sojourner’s emergency shelter for survivors and their children. While at Safe House, residents receive emotional support for the duration of their stay as well as follow-up care once they’ve moved to more permanent housing.
The New England Center and Home for Veterans (NECHV) provides a range of resources to help veterans achieve success and independent living. For more than 10 years, the Foundation has supported NECHV in expanding its programs, including education, employment, and housing.
Ethos Boston promotes the well-being and dignity of the elderly and those with developmental disabilities. One of our society’s most vulnerable groups of older adults is LGBTQ+ elders, who often lack the traditional support systems of spouses and children. The Foundation contributed to Ethos Boston’s Aging Services Network, which works to ensure LGBTQ+ elders can age well within their own communities and among their peers.
We’re proud to work with organizations that continually find new ways to strengthen our communities.
“The Foundation’s donation has helped us accomplish our mission of removing obstacles to care and meeting patients where they are. With the addition of our new mobile health clinic, we’ve been able to reach more patients and expand our services, all without having to sacrifice quality of care.”
Dr. Ryan Dono, Medical Director of the Health Care for the Homeless Program at Greater Lawrence Family Health Center
TheFoundation remains steadfast in our commitment to causes and organizations promoting social change. Our Social Justice Initiative is a $5 million financial commitment in support of nonprofits that address racial and social injustices. What began as a five-year strategy to actively promote justice and fairness in our communities has become central to our mission.
Last year, we donated $740,000 to multiple nonprofits that promote and provide equity in housing, health care, and more, including:
Greater Lawrence Family Health Center (GLFHC): With unhoused and immigrant populations in the Greater Lawrence area increasing, the demand for mobile health care is on the rise. To help GLFHC meet that demand, the Foundation contributed meaningful funding to the purchase of a new, state-of-the-art mobile health unit. The new mobile clinic delivers medical services to vulnerable adults and children who cannot access traditional health facilities, tripling the patient care GLFHC has been able to provide in years past.
Mabel Center for Immigrant Justice:
The Mabel Center provides full legal representation for clients seeking asylum. Over the past eight years, our country has faced significant challenges in supporting immigrants, particularly when it comes to legalization. Recognizing this urgent need, the Foundation provided critical support to the Mabel Center in its tireless, around-the-clock efforts to guide individuals through the asylum process here in Massachusetts.
HopeWell: Children in foster care face unique challenges, from educational opportunity gaps to uncertainty as they enter adulthood. HopeWell’s RISE and My First Place programs serve young people in foster care in the Greater Boston area. While RISE is specifically designed to meet the needs of students in grades K-3, My First Place offers young adults aging out of foster care shared, rent-free apartments. The Foundation made a significant investment in HopeWell to benefit children at two critical stages of the foster care system: early education for little ones and housing and support for older youth.
In 2024, the Foundation donated $740,000 to multiple nonprofits that promote and provide equity in housing, health care, and more.
“The Arbella Insurance Foundation continues to make a positive difference in the communities it serves. I am so proud to work for a company with a Foundation that is willing and able to donate to the charities that are most meaningful to its employees.”
Kristen Robinson, Program Support Coordinator, Arbella Insurance Group
Since its inception in 2005, the Arbella Insurance Foundation has donated $45 million to nonprofit organizations serving the communities in which we live, work, and learn.
Together with the Foundation, Arbella Insurance Group employees and independent agents are driven by a shared commitment to lasting impact.
When Arbella employees, agents, and the Foundation work together, we don’t just give—we engage, innovate, and take action. Grounded in generosity, collaboration, and a deep sense of community, we remain a force that’s Here. For Good.
