ESSENTIAL EGYPT

Giza Plateau

Of the original ‘Seven Wonders of the

World’ only the monumental Great Pyramid of Giza remains, and staggeringly it was the tallest man-made structure on Earth

for over 3800 years. Along with the elegant Sphinx and the other Pyramids of Giza

Plateau near Cairo, it continues to mystify and captivate visitors.

Dahab

This wonderfully relaxed Red Sea

resort provides exceptional diving and

snorkelling opportunities, with some of the world’s finest coral reefs nearby. It also has excellent souvenir shops, fantastic restaurants serving sumptuous fresh

seafood, and chilled-out cafes along the seafront – an irresistible combination!

Valley of the Kings

Quite simply an archaeological treasuretrove, this hidden valley is lined with fascinating ancient tombs to visit. It

became world famous in 1922, with Howard Carter’s discovery of the

untouched burial chamber and priceless golden treasures of the ‘Boy King’

Tutankhamun, the single greatest discovery of Egyptology.

Luxor

Luxor, site of the Ancient Egyptian city of Thebes, has been described as the “world’s greatest open air museum”.

Here we can visit the ruins of the temple complexes at Karnak and Luxor, both

within the modern city, while across the

River Nile lie the monuments, temples and tombs of the West Bank Necropolis.

Egypt is a land of ancient treasures; the magnificent Pyramids of Giza, the temples of Abu Simbel near Aswan, the fascinating tombs of the Valley of the Kings, the sprawling temple complexes of Luxor... history beckons at every turn.

12 DAY TURKISH DELIGHT

Turkey is an eclectic mix of markets, mountains, mosques and monuments, where striking regions such as Cappadocia and Pamukkale contrast with the urban splendour of exotic Istanbul.

Istanbul

One of the world’s greatest cities,

Istanbul is truly where West meets East – it straddles the Bosphorus Strait and

has the distinction of being the only city in the world to sit on two continents,

Europe and Asia! Marvel at the exotic

architecture, haggle for souvenirs, and explore the immense Mosques and

other landmarks of the old Sultanahmet district.

Cappadocia

The unique geology of Cappadocia has created some truly remarkable

landscapes, hence the flock of hot air

balloons which rise at sunset every day to take in the views. We can see the

famous ‘fairy-chimneys’ (eerily beautiful eroded rock formations) and distinctive rock houses.

Fethiye

Fethiye is an important ancient town – the spectacular Lycian tombs carved

into the cliffs are testament to that. But

this popular resort on the Turkish coast is now a modern day retreat; activities

in town range from paragliding to hiking, and the beaches are always full of

sunseekers. Visit Fethiye on both our

Turkey Explored trip and our Turkey Gulet Cruise here, and you’ll see just what all the fuss is about!

Kaş

Kaş is a beautiful harbour city on

Turkey’s Mediterranean coast and is

blessed with some of the region’s best beaches. The town itself has quaint

cobbled streets, great markets, friendly bars and excellent restaurants, and

whilst here we can even go scuba diving in the extremely clear waters!

DAY 7 Fethiye.

A free day in Fethiye on the stunning

Turkish Riviera! Relax on an island cruise or chill out on the beach. The fascinating
