Jody, “and bred by a very small breeder.” And so far not many people have been clued in about the new addition. In fact, Jody says his breeding services were only made available to a limited number of existing clients in 2011, and that first book closed quickly. The coming two-year-old’s name is *Asala Hafid Nahman (DF Malik Jamil x Asra Milahaa). The striking solid bay is a sharp contrast to the Cruzes’ predominantly grey herd. “I didn’t tell many people about *Nahman, and only just started letting the word out. He is so different from anything we have. He is a combination Nagel and Ansata breeding so I don’t think there is any stallion in the country with his breeding. He has a gorgeous face, and flashy movement with exotic type. He is a really charismatic colt. That is an aspect I am hoping to strengthen in the program. So many of our country’s nice stallions have been exported. It’s nice to have something new come into our country.” Jody and Karen plan to test two of their best straight Egyptian mares on *Nahman: Kachina MH (El Halimaar x SF Moon Maiden) and Binte Aziza MH (Richter MH x Bint Aziza Princess). And later the plan is to breed “all our stars to him” says Jody. Also waiting in the wings to take their place in the next generation are a pair of bay colts Jody bred by Imperial Al Kamar Above: The 2005 mare Sahara Moon MH (Jabbaar El Halimaar MH x SF Moon Maiden). Bottom row, from left to right: The 1998 mare Binte Aziza MH (Richter MH x Bintaziza Princess by Abenhetep). The 1999 mare Kachina MH (El Halimaar x SF Moon Maiden by Nabiel). The 2000 mare Tamaara MH (El Halimaar x MB Sahammena by Tammen). The 2007 filly Staar Of Egypt MH (Imperial Mistaar x Nehaya MH by Richter MH).
