Simple Fixes for Your Mac- Mac Repairs in London, UK So your Mac won’t turn on. This can be extremely distressing, to say the least; you paid that Apple tax to prevent this sort of thing from happening. Wasn’t “ease of use” the whole sales pitch you heard? And, unless you signed up for AppleCare, you could be staring down having to pay for some Mac repairs. Usually, this is an easy fix; Apple power supplies are notorious for breaking down at the worst possible moment, and once that happens, you can’t run your computer, because it’s getting choked at the source. If your power cord on your iMac or MacBook has broken down, you just need to run down to your local computer shop (make sure it carries Mac supplies!) and pick up a new one. This is a quick fix, and while these can be expensive components, it’s best to just rip off that band aid and be done with it. RAM: A Simple Fix for a Simple Problem A common problem is that your computer is running too slow. This could be for any variety of reasons, but most of the time, it’s because you’re running software that’s more than your current RAM can handle. This could be something as basic as having upgraded to a more recent version of OS X than you probably should have. In this event, the easiest thing to do is to head to a computer shop and pick up some more RAM, which is easy to install on most Apple computers. In laptops it’s simply a matter of carefully popping off the back and switching out the cards, and in iMacs, there’s a slot at the bottom which is easily accessible. Unlike most PCs, you don’t have to completely disassemble your computer to do it. If the problem is more complicated than that, though, well, the Mac repairs start to get complicated, too. If you have a more fundamental problem, such as a defective motherboard, graphics card, or other important hardware component, you’re going to want to

take your Mac in for repairs. You can’t crack open that aluminum unibody case without voiding your warranty, and nobody wants that; not you, not Apple, and certainly not your humble author. So head down to your local Apple repairs store or look around for a certified apple mac repairs shop, which is usually the cheaper option, and let the real professionals handle it. Remember, it’s not just a good idea -- it’s their job!
