Students receive awards, share passions CUMMING, Ga. — Students in West Forsyth High School’s mild intellectual disability program were honored in the “Expressing My Passions” show, hosted by the Sawnee-Cumming Optimist Club. Students prepared boards describing their passions, with presentations ranging from soccer and music to looming and cheering. Each student received a medal and certificate for their presentations. Parents, teachers, student aids and members of the club celebrated the accomplishments of the students. “The students are exceptional, and so are the teachers and student assistants that spend time with these remarkable young men and women,” said Randy O’Dell, Optimist Club president. The club also sponsors the Optimist Oratorical Contest, the nation’s largest oratorical contest. O’Dell credits the continued support of the club’s members, Forsyth County School administrators, teachers, faculty, sponsors and families for the success of these events. –Julie Brennan
