beyond their comfort zone
n Oct. 15, the Alpharetta Chamber of Commerce presented “Women Who Walk the Walk beyond Their Comfort Zone,” an afternoon of networking and inspiration for professional women. Held at the Metropolitan Club in Alpharetta, the event featured an address by Anna Cablik, chief executive officer of Anatek Steel, who shared wisdom for creating strategies for balancing a robust professional life with a meaningful personal life. Love what you do, she advised those dreaming of starting their own business. Stay positive, have a plan and don’t give up. Lee Chadwick, president and owner of the Metropolitan Club, advised professional women to feel good about their choices and not let negative people drag them down. Watch out for stress, she advised, because if you let it get to you, you will feel powerless, and no one operates effectively through fear. In keeping with the event’s theme, guests were invited to bring a new or nearly new pair of shoes to be donated to the Drake House. In total, 72 pairs of shoes were collected. Kathy Swahn, executive director of the Drake House, was very appreciative of the gesture, explaining how such donations can help many women in crisis learn to “Walk the Walk.”
