ASHTON FIGHTS BACK FOR AUSI Ashton Agar broke a host of long-standing records in Test cricket with a stunning 98 runs on debut as Australia fought back in the first Ashes Test at Trent Bridge. Batting at number 11 and with Australia reeling at 9 for 117, Agar played a fearless knock and shared in a record-breaking 163-run partnership for the 10th wicket with Phil Hughes (81 not out) to rescue Australia's ailing innings. Agar and Hughes's last-wicket partnership was the highest ever by any nation in the history of Test cricket, with Agar scoring the highest-ever innings by a number 11 batsman. Unleaded fuel spills from Caltex oil terminal in NSW

About 130,000 litres of unleaded fuel has spilled from an oil terminal in Sydney's south -east overnight. Emergency service crews were called to the Caltex refinery in Banksmeadow, near Port Botany, about 1.30am AEST. Fire and Rescue Superintendent Tom Cooper says workers were operating the tank valve when it malfunctioned. An Australian man who was deported from Saudi Arabia after his brother was jailed for terrorism offences has arrived in Perth. Junaid Thorne had his passport taken by Saudi authorities after being detained for protesting against the ongoing detention of his brother, Shayden, in 2011. Shayden Thorne, 25, has since been sentenced to more than four years in prison for supporting and encouraging terrorism. Junaid Thorne said his brother's confessions to the crimes were extracted as a result of torture. Mr Thorne went into hiding in Saudi Arabia after his passport was confiscated, but he eventually turned himself in to authorities and the deportation process began. After arriving in Perth this morning, he said he was happy to be with his family and he would continue to support his brother. Both men are originally from Perth and their mother also lives there. The mother, who does not want to be identified, has called on the Federal Government to make a direct approach to the Saudi king to get her son released from prison. She says her sons are no danger to anyone, they simply spoke out against the Saudi government. The Federal Government says it did all it could to represent the interests of Shayden Thorne. With time already served, he is expected to spend the next three years in a Saudi jail.
