The Scarab Waste Water Australia Team has installed a new 220 person / 44 KL per day Scarab Waste Water Treatment System in Cracow, QLD for Evolution Mining to work in tandem with their existing STP. We managed to do this Project without causing any disruption to the day to day running of the Camp. Health insurance isn’t usually top of the list when you’re thinking about tax traps and savings, but the health of your hip pocket is closely connected to the state of your health insurance.
Three government programs you should know a little about
The government is keen to encourage people to have at least some form of private hospital insurance, and they help us make sure it’s a priority through three key programs. One can save you money, and two could cost you money – that’s three good reasons to spend a few minutes reading up about them.
1] If you don’t have hospital cover, you may have to pay more tax

The Medicare Levy Surcharge – an extra tax that higher income earners are charged if they don’t have private hospital cover Most of us pay a Medicare Levy through our income tax. It helps to fund the public health system and to pay for the services we use each time we throw down our Medicare card for a doctor’s visit or public hospital treatment. People who earn over a certain amount, and who don’t have private hospital cover, have to pay a bit extra, it’s called the Medicare Levy Surcharge. The amount you may have to pay under the surcharge is based on your income: if you don’t have private hospital cover, the more you earn, the more you’ll be required to pay. © RT Health Fund 2014 0514/2875
2] If you don’t have private hospital cover by the time you’re 31 you may be penalised for the next 10 years Lifetime health cover – a government loading that is applied if you don’t have private hospital cover before the cut-off date Lifetime Health Cover is an incentive designed to ouch! encourage people to take out private hospital cover early in life and to keep it. If you join private hospital cover by the 30th of June following your 31st birthday, you’ll pay the ‘base rate’ that the health fund offers. For every year you are over 31 when you join, the government charges you a 2% loading on top of the base rate. Once you have a loading, the only way out of it is to hold hospital cover continuously for 10 years!
Anyone who earns under a set income threshold is entitled to the maximum rebate amount. As your income increases above the base threshold, the amount of rebate you are entitled to decreases: the more you earn, the less you get.

The Shake to Wake application was inspired by the amount of deaths and injuries that have occurred on highways in the Surat Basin — an area in Queensland that is booming in the mining, farming and construction industries. Local men and women are doing 12 hour shifts, often working seven days straight and then travelling home to their loved ones after. Some of these people work upside-down shifts on a strict rotation of night then day shifts — leaving their bodies out of balance and in need of sleep — and then they push themselves to the limit just to be in their own bed. Being an ex-farmer, Robert Smiley remembers the 2pm feeling of tiredness and the micro-sleep feeling in the tractor, especially with the warm winter sun making conditions cosier. He travels Queensland roads every day and said the Shake to Wake application can help reduce the amount of accidents taking place on Surat Basin roads, and potentially save lives.
“I feel the Shake to Wake application is simple to use and will help eliminate the micro-sleeps and fatigue of the heavy haulage and mining industries,” Mr Smiley said. “This can also help with down time costs and machinery capital losses from accidents for business owners.” Tourists, security guards, travelling salesmen, and farmers and graziers transporting stock or grain to major cities could all benefit from the application. It can even be used to wake farmers spending long days in the tractor at the end of a paddock, reminding them to manually turn while they are using auto steering GPS systems. • It is important to note however, that while you can hop out of the vehicle and run around it, or have a coffee or some food, nothing will cure driver fatigue more than a good sleep, as this allows the body to revitalise itself. • Also remember to observe and obey local, state and national road rules while operating this device.
