wellbeing of Victorians.

Being able to find a job is not only important to earn money to survive on, but also to bring a sense of purpose and connection to people’s lives. It can be really tough when you can’t find work, or when people won’t give you a chance to develop new skills or experience. That’s where JobsBank comes in.

These grants will also provide more opportunities for people from disadvantaged communities, to take part in sport and physical activity.

JobsBank is a new program the Victorian Government and some of the state’s largest businesses have set up, to break down barriers to employment and to make sure no Victorian gets left behind. Businesses will pledge roles in their organisation for those who struggle to find work, including family violence survivors, disengaged young people and people living with a disability. People looking for work receive tailored mentoring, training and development services to help get them into meaningful, sustainable jobs, as will extra support for things like travel expenses, childcare and clothing. Since the launch of the program, 1,600 disadvantaged Victorians have found work through Jobs Victoria.

As part of our long-term plan to get 300,000 more Victorians more physically active by 2023, community sport clubs can apply for funding grants of up to $3,000 or up to $10,000. The grants form part of VicHealth’s work towards seeing one million Victorians experiencing better health and wellbeing by 2023 and address the recommendations from the recent Victorian State Government’s Inquiry into Women and Girls in Sport and Active Recreation. Round 1 of the 2017-2018 Active Club Grants opens on Monday 21 August, and closes at 4pm, Friday 22 September 2017. Sport clubs are invited to apply for this grant online at www.vichealth.vic.gov.au/activeclub.

The Government has invested $63 million in Jobs Victoria, to put 5000 Victorian jobseekers into meaningful and sustainable work over four years. JobsBank is the next step. To register for JobsBank, register your business or to find out more, visit jobs.vic.gov.au or call 1300 208 575 and if you know someone looking for work, please share this information with them. ACTIVE CLUB GRANTS The Active Club Grants program will provide up to $400,000 to sports clubs across the state, to get more women and girls taking part in sport, and increase opportunities for less active Victorians to play social sport across Victoria, to improve the health and
