Casa Antonete Winery founded in 1956 by 15 wine growers, after successive expansions over the years, now has almost 1000 members, with a potential of 4,500 hectares of vineyards producing 30 million kg of grapes. Casa Antonete Winery forms part of a cooperative named Sociedad Cooperativa del Campo CLM “LA UNION AB”. Which includes five different sections. The winery, Oil mill (producing extra olive oil under the brand Valdemembra), Cereal Grains, Horticulture and a supplies Store. Casa Antonete Winery is located in the Designation of Origin, LA MANCHA, (http://lamanchawines.com/inicio/eng/). North of the province of Albacete, at an altitude of 700 meters above sea level, with a population of about 6,500 inhabitants, and 36 kilometers from the capital, Albacete, near the border of Cuenca province is Tarazona de la Mancha, it has a totally continental climate which is very suitable for wine growing. Every inhabitant in town works, or it´s a member or has business with the Winery. When talking about Casa Antonete Winery, we are talking about “the winery of Tarazona de la Mancha”. Tarazona de la Mancha has a rich historical and artistic heritage. Extremely attractive, harmonious and famous in his PLAZA MAYOR, declared a National Historic-Artistic, a very popular character, symbol of rustic manchego (it ranks among the ten most beautiful squares in Spain). This unique architectural complex dating back to the XVII century with a colonial style. It is a rectangular plaza with beautiful wooden balconied and wide eaves. It´s accessed by four Romanesque arches.
The PLAZA MAYOR is the heart and pride of tarazoneros (gentilic for the residents of Tarazona de la Mancha also know by pucherichos), fulfills a social purpose and festive, and exports one of the most genuine picture of La Mancha. One of the first members back in 1956 was the owner of a little hamlet called Casa Antonete very close to the main town and actual Winery, which became with the years on the main brand for the wines with Spanish varieties, as Tempranillo and Macabeo. Another brand that takes the name from the river Valdemebra that goes across the town and ends in the Jucar River.
