Dear Neighbor, Welcome to our holiday edition of Gold Coast Magazine, a celebration of the people and lifestyle of the North Shore. As the publisher of 18 weekly newspapers, including Garden City Life, Glen Cove Record Pilot, Great Neck Record, Manhasset Press, Oyster Bay Enterprise Pilot, Port Washington News, The Roslyn News and Syosset-Jericho Tribune, we know the territory—and what makes the Gold Coast so special. Back in the late 19th century when families like the Whitneys, Roosevelts, Vanderbilts and Morgans called the area home, the aura of the Gold Coast reverberated with opulence, class and elegance, thanks to its combination of stately architecture, iconic estates and stunning vistas. A century later, many of these private estates are open to the public, and a significant number of people are enjoying the privilege of living in such a luxurious area. This issue of Gold Coast Magazine shares what Old Westbury Gardens and other local mansions are doing this season, and includes pieces about interior decorating and environmentally themed DIY crafts. We offer a gift guide for everyone on your list, highlighting where to find perfect Gold Coast presents (Zion Lion in Roslyn Heights, Funky Monkey in Greenvale), holiday food treats from our local merchants (Post Wine in Syosset, Chocolicious in Locust Valley) and toasty local restaurants with fireplaces to dine in (Barney’s in Locust Valley, Thyme in Roslyn) after shopping for your loved ones. We’ve also included highlights of what to wear this holiday season, according to an Americana Manhasset personal shopper. With generosity and charity being an integral part of this time of year, our team of award-winning writers contributed stories that reflect how many local merchants are getting into this spirit. Marilou Giammona shares some of the efforts being spearheaded by Toys for Tots, The INN and the North Shore Child & Family Guidance Center. In our gift guide, Lyn Dobrin writes about the “give-back” policy of Port Washington’s Wit & Whim and Champions for Charity of the Americana Manhasset and Wheatley Plaza shopping centers. Plus, look for quotes from our readers throughout the issue to learn about their traditions and memories. I hope you enjoy this special holiday issue of Gold Coast Magazine as much as we enjoyed creating it for you.

What to

Wear This Season

Fashion tips for every occasion from Miracle Mile personal shoppers Once we’re finished indulging in our Thanksgiving feasts, and the china and sterling silver are all cleaned, dried and stored away, the next item that tops the 2014 agenda is shopping for the holidays. We all want to look and feel our best as we prepare to celebrate our personal and business lives. That means more parties—and more clothing— to think about as we move into 2015. Women often have their hearts and minds set on finding their next favorite ensemble, fancy dress, accessory or piece of jewelry. It’s definitely a task that requires lots of patience and window shopping, not to mention a heavy wallet, and of course just being in the know. The personal shoppers at the Americana Manhasset are always in the know, and share with Gold Coast Magazine readers some inspiration for making shopping this season a smooth and exciting endeavor. Get ready for some stunning designs, many of which can be found in the beautiful shops at Americana Manhasset. Shoppers, expect to see vibrant jewel tones in deep greens, blues and berry colors, used in myriad textures. “Alaïa, a designer found at Hirshleifers, is especially adept at creating flattering knit dresses, and this holiday season is no exception,” said Danielle Merollo, director of personal shopping services at Americana Manhasset. 14 | GOLD COAST MAGAZINE

“Burberry has chosen rich gem tones to great effect with mixed prints and patterns in flowing materials. Prints and patterns will be everywhere this season,” said Merollo. For the fanciest affairs, Alice and Olivia has perfect ball gowns. “This chic company offers ethereal gowns in lovely prints and rich hues this season,” Merollo said. The classic woman won’t go unnoticed. Let’s not forget about any woman’s closet staple: the little black dress (LBD). There is definitely no shortage of fun black dresses around, and one can never go wrong with this classic go-to piece. The LBD never gets old or goes out of style. In fact, Merollo says you don’t always have to play it safe either. “There are several LBDs featuring interesting textures and juxtapositions of materials,” she said. Popular designer Nicholas’s exclusive window lace strapless ball dress is worth checking out at Intermix. Merollo thinks it’s the perfect example of how designers are using sheer fabrics in clever ways. At Hirshleifers, Valentino adds a panel of white lace at the upper chest to put a twist on the simple black dress. Alexander McQueen adds a white Peter Pan collar and cuffs embellished with black bows. It seems this year in particular, designers had fun with their creations. Marching right along is Fendi with their indigo suede pumps that can add the shazam factor to an all black outfit. Similarly, the “monster” bag from Fendi is sure to get conversations started. Other designers are right on track with their handbag creations. Hirshleifers carries a nice selection from Moschino, Edie Parker and Alexander McQueen. 16 | GOLD COAST MAGAZINE

A great accessory that all ladies can add to enhance any ensemble is the sequined scarf. Carrying either a gold or silver purse or clutch can automatically add a pop of shine and color to any outfit. Tory Burch debuted a metallic, quilted bag for timeless glamour—an accessory that takes you from morning to evening. No holiday outfit would be complete without jewelry. “For a modern look, I recommend layering pieces, whether that means wearing multiple strands of necklaces at varying lengths or stacking on the wrist a bunch of glittering bangles,” said Merollo. Mixing and matching metals is OK, too. The more colorful the better. “Silver, gold and rose gold look just fine altogether,” Merollo said. “A little sparkle goes a long way and never goes out of style.”

Merollo’s Holiday Dress Code Tips For Corporate Vs. Casual • For corporate parties with business acquaintances, think classic and chic. Wear an embellished blazer paired with slim black pants or a pencil skirt. Saint Laurent, Chanel and Tory Burch all offer good options for this look. • For a sophisticated white wow shirt, there’s always Anne Fontaine. For a strong impression, top it with a short colorful fur. • For casual, more comfortable parties with friends, make the skinny black jean from J. Crew your go-to pant. Wear it with a great, glittery Jimmy Choo strappy heel and clutch, and you’re good to go. • Leather is extremely popular this season, adding a sense of luxe to any outfit. You’ll find leggings, skirts and dresses— all buttery soft and in great colors. Throw a long, shimmery necklace on top of a simple leather sheath dress from Theory or Vince, and you’re party-ready! ■

Reader’s Favorite Holiday Gift “When I was ten, I asked for a doll that I really wanted. I would go to the store with my mother and just look at it in the box while she shopped. I didn’t realize it then, but it would be my last doll because I would soon be too old for them. I had also been wanting a little sister desperately. I had two little brothers, but I was dying for a girl. That Christmas the doll was under the tree, and in her hands was a little note that said, ‘take good care of your doll, God will send you a real baby in May.’ My sister Susan was born that spring. It was truly the best gift I have ever received.” —Patti Dunham, Sea Cliff

From December 4 to 6, shoppers can use their special Champions card when making a purchase from stores in these marketplaces and 25 percent will be donated to the registered charity of their choice. There are 113 charities to choose from. To register, call 800-818-6767. The jewelry of Syosset artist Alice Sprintzen has been featured in Elle magazine and The New York Times, as well as in craft magazines. Sprintzen takes found objects such as fragments of red, amber and clear car lights to incorporate into her one-of-a-kind pieces. Her A Token Of necklace is created from tokens, garnet, a car tail light, antique glass belt buckle, sterling silver and glass beads ($750, www.alicesprintzen.com). Two years ago, Laurie and Marty Scheinman decided to focus on charitable giving in a sustainable way. The couple opened the shop Whit & Whim in Port Washington, and filled it with unique home goods from around the world, such as this bowl constructed of waste from steel production in India ($60). After the Scheinmans pay expenses, the remainder is donated to a different charity each month. To date, they have donated $51,000. More Than Just

Eggnog By Lyn Dobrin

Specialty drinks from favorite watering holes The aromas and tastes of Christmas— an open fire, eggnog, and orange and clove pomanders—can be found in specialty libations at local restaurants. We’ve included the recipes so you can make these holiday refreshments year-round. At the Garden City Hotel, you’ll find the Yule Log, created by restaurant manager Greg Wool. According to Wool, it’s a smoky-sweet cocktail that “manages to be simultaneously mellow and full of depth and flavor.” To make the Yule Log, shake 1½ parts Uncle Val’s Botanical Gin, ¾ fresh lemon juice, ½ agave nectar and ¼ Lagavulin 16-year Scotch. Strain into a rocks glass that's filled with fresh ice; garnish with a small sprig of juniper. If you’re yearning for eggnog, try the Eggnog Martini created by bartender Allison Werner of The Brass Rail in Locust Valley. To prepare the drink, Werner combines 2½ ounces eggnog, 1 ounce vanilla vodka (Stoli is her favorite) and ¾ ounce Amaretto de Sarrano. She rims the glass with graham cracker crumbs. Werner has lots of other holiday cocktails in her repertoire, including Jingle Juice, Butternut Blizzard and Christmas on the Beach. To recreate the zingy orange pomander, try the Spiced Martini at MP Taverna in Roslyn. In a pint glass, muddle 2 cloves, an orange wedge and a lemon twist. Add a splash of sweet vermouth and ice. Combine 1 part sweet vermouth with 3 parts Old Overhold Rye. Strain into a martini glass and garnish with an orange peel. ■ The Spiced Martini at MP Taverna in Roslyn Photos by Steve Toscano

Thyme in Roslyn

There are two fireplaces at Franina in Syosset, one in their wine cellar and the other in the main dining room. The ambiance is welcoming in this warm Italian restaurant that serves dishes from various regions, plus seasonal specialities. You’re sure to find game meat, such as wild boar, braised rabbit and venison, on the menu. During the holiday season, the decor is elegantly enriched with poinsettias—red, pink, white and multicolored. Wine dinners are held in the wine cellar, which seats approximately 35 people. Guests at the Garden City Hotel can enjoy a roaring fire in the Library Room, the area off the lobby. With four wingback 38 | GOLD COAST MAGAZINE

armchairs and wrap-around seating, this is a favorite area for visitors. The Polo Lounge dining room and bar houses another fireplace with low-level seating of four sofas and a marble coffee table, perfect for a light meal of tapas and small plates, as well as their Yule Log cocktail (see “More Than Just Eggnog” on page 32). The hotel is offering a three-course holiday dinner and is trying something new for the eight nights of Hanukkah that will feature latkes with toppings. Other nearby eateries with fireplaces include Basil Leaf Café in Locust Valley, Mim’s in Roslyn Heights and both Bryant & Cooper and Hendrick’s Tavern in Roslyn. ■

How local charities, volunteers and businesses help those in need They are steadfast in fulfilling their respective missions all year long, but for local charities, the holiday season brings an intensified sense of purpose. “For the guests of The INN, their needs are so simple,” said Rob Cameron, a 30-year volunteer at the Mary Brennan Interfaith Nutrition Network. “They just want to feel like they’re part of the holidays, like the rest of us.” Founded in 1983 as a single soup kitchen run by a small group of concerned volunteers, The INN has grown to include 14 soup kitchens in 21 locations across Long Island. More than 5,000 people are fed each week and, collectively, the soup kitchens serve more than 400,000 meals annually. Anyone who comes to The INN’s soup kitchens receives a hot, nutritious meal, a warm welcome and access to whatever additional support 42 | GOLD COAST MAGAZINE

services are available, including shelter and long-term housing. As the holidays draw near, volunteers and supporters are busy making preparations for traditional meals. “We serve a really special, scrumptious Thanksgiving meal on the holiday at the Mary Brennan INN, the organization’s flagship soup kitchen in Hempstead,” Cameron said. Many of The INN’s other soup kitchens will serve Thanksgiving dinner as well, he added. The INN also provides a holiday meal and toys for children on December 25, as part of its nondenominational holiday celebration. Of course, all of that would not be possible without support from the community at large. Diane’s Bakery and Café in Roslyn donates desserts for Thanksgiving and Ben’s Kosher Delicatessen of Greenvale donates much of the food for The INN’s holiday meals.

While many Long Islanders are in need of food and shelter, many others’ needs run much deeper. Since its incorporation in 1953, North Shore Child & Family Guidance Center of Roslyn Heights has been dedicated to restoring and strengthening the emotional well-being of children and families, and providing diagnosis, treatment, prevention, training, parent education, research and advocacy for those in need. Around this time of year, “we send out a fundraising appeal, as people are often generous during the holidays and the end of the year,” said Nicole Oberheim, a representative for the notfor-profit organization. The Guidance Center also participates in Americana Manhasset’s Champions for Charity, a holiday shopping benefit wherein select Americana and Wheatley Plaza stores and restaurants donate a portion of full-price pretax purchases to the participating organization of the customer’s choice. This year’s benefit will be held December 4 to 6 (for details, see “Gifts That Give Back” on page 29). What most charities have in common is that they rely on the magic of the holiday season. The Make-A-Wish Foundation 44 | GOLD COAST MAGAZINE

grants the wish of a child diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition in the United States and its territories, on average, every 38 minutes. The organization gives supporters an opportunity to sponsor a wish during the holiday season. “We help you create a Friends & Family fundraising page to raise funds to sponsor a wish,” said Gaby Sappington, vice president, marketing and community relations at Make-AWish Foundation of Metro New York. “With this time period being one of the busiest wish-granting seasons of the year— about 100 wishes are waiting to be granted—we need the help of our community.” Make-A-Wish also has an In Flight program, allowing contributors to donate their frequent flyer miles—which do not expire after being donated to Make-A-Wish—to help them transport wish kids to their dream destination this holiday season. The charity has partnered with Macy’s on their Believe campaign, too. For every letter to Santa supporters drop in the special Believe boxes in Macy’s stores or send electronically via the Believe web page, the retailer donates $1 to Make-A-Wish, up to $1 million.

Westbury House at Old Westbury Gardens takes center stage this holiday season. Photo by Vincent Kish

Old Westbury Gardens, Old Westbury With the gardens dormant, the 1906 Westbury House takes center stage. The Phipps family had one Christmas tree in the White Drawing Room, but visitors can enjoy five live, decorated trees displayed throughout the house. Members of the horticulture staff individually decorate each room, and life-size figures represent family Christmas activities all through the house. The tree lighting event on December 6 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. kicks off the festivities. View the Westbury House in its holiday splendor and enjoy live holiday music, including a performance by members of the Bethel Concert Choir. The tree lighting ceremony will take place on the South Terrace at 8:15 p.m., plus, there will be a visit by Santa Claus and light refreshments. Throughout the rest of December, visitors can enjoy cookies and cider—and see Santa. For more information and a full list of activities, go to www.oldwestburygardens.org.

Planting Fields, Oyster Bay Coe Hall, the manor house of Planting Fields estate (built in 1911), was one of the residences of William Robertson Coe, an insurance, railroad and business executive. Special holiday events are held throughout December. There’s the annual tree lighting and visit from Santa on December 12, with free activities, admission and parking. On December 13 and 14, make a gingerbread house, listen to madrigal singers and watch a performance of Frosty the Snowman (for an admission fee). The Planting Fields Foundation’s Deck the Halls, a dinner/dance, takes place on December 6. The gorgeous poinsettia display is not to be missed. For additional information, visit www.plantingfields.org.

Sands Point Preserve in Port Washington will hold several holiday events, including Holiday Tales at the Hearth. Visitors to Old Westbury Gardens will enjoy viewing five live, decorated trees.

Sagamore Hill, Oyster Bay Visitors to Sagamore Hill, the estate of our 26th president, Theodore Roosevelt, can enjoy the holidays during Christmas with the Roosevelts at the Old Orchard Museum on Saturday, December 6, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be hot chocolate, carolers, crafts and early 20th century music presented by folk singers Larry Moser and Mary Nagin. There will even be a visit from Theodore Roosevelt himself, as portrayed by Jim Foote. The event is free. Please note that the house is closed for rehabilitation. For more information, visit www.nps.gov/sahi/index.htm. Sands Point Preserve, Port Washington On December 6, there’s sophisticated holiday entertainment at Hempstead House, the former Gould/Guggenheim estate, when Steve Lutbak, composer of the Tony-winning Broadway hit, A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Music, entertains with other acclaimed Broadway performers. The evening features cocktails and dinner at 7 p.m., followed by the performance at 8 p.m. and then dessert with the artists. Tickets are currently on sale. On December 7, from 12 to 3 p.m., Holiday Tales at the Hearth features carolers, children’s crafts and a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus. Guest readers share favorite stories beside the roaring fireplace in the library. The afternoon also includes a Wurlitzer Opus 442 Theatre Organ performance and refreshments. Reader Stephanie Hall of Port Washington memorializes each Christmas with a sliver of the tree that includes highlights of a special event.

By Lyn Dobrin

Decorating for an Old-Fashioned Christmas The basics to beautiful arrangements are in your own backyard Want to create an old-fashioned Christmas? Most of what you need is already in your own backyard, say Old Westbury Gardens director of horticulture Maura Brush and greenhouse supervisor Scott Lucas. So pick up those pinecones, clip branches from the boxwood hedge and rescue that old terra-cotta pot—and you’ve got the makings of holiday decorations in the manner of the Westbury House, the 1906 mansion on the property of the Old Westbury Gardens. Brush says it’s not hard for homeowners to pull off a classy and elegant natural Christmas. “If you have evergreens, it’s easy to gather enough without having to buy any,” she says. In addition to any greens you pick, basic equipment includes sharp pruners and floral foam, a dense, lightweight and porous material that can be cut into virtually any shape. Floral foam holds its form when wet and provides both water 50 | GOLD COAST MAGAZINE

and support to cut flower arrangements. Since it wasn’t invented until 1954, the Phipps family, the original inhabitants of Old Westbury Gardens, had to find other ways to secure their arrangements. Brush and Lucas say their favorite green for holiday decorating is boxwood. The shiny, dark green leaves are perfect in many arrangements, looking formal when cut closely and tightly packed or providing an accent as filler in a grouping, perhaps with red roses. The horticulturists like to cut longer pieces and tie them together to hang upside down. Floral foam in a conical form can be covered with boxwood to create a tabletop tree—no other embellishment is necessary. Another simple tabletop arrangement is a dwarf Alberta spruce. Dress up its plastic pot by covering it with birch.

A foam sphere is the perfect base for a kissing ball. Cover the foam with moss and insert a few sprigs of mistletoe. Then hang it where gentleman can demand a kiss from any female standing underneath. (Do people still do that?) Lucas also enjoys working with umbrella pine, which has fine, thin needles, holly and blue Atlas cedar with bluish-green foliage. The Phipps family would have placed greenery in a silver bowl to catch the light. Since glass is much more economical than silver, Brush recommends turning a glass bowl into a faux silver one by spraying the inside of a glass bowl with a silver metallic color, such as Design Master’s Brilliant Silver. The paint can be scraped off after the holiday and the bowl returned to more mundane uses. Sprigs of berries like rose hips can be sprayed red, if a deeper color is desired. And then there’s terra-cotta. “We love terra-cotta,” says Brush. “Even at Christmas, we use plain terra-cotta, the more worn out the better.” With an arrangement of the airy, pale green houseplant Ming Fern, also known as asparagus fern, and sprigs of bright red rose hips and boxwood, Lucas creates a pleasant, Christmasy arrangement. Another often-used piece of decorating equipment at Westbury House is a glass cloche, a dome that protects and displays cherished objects, which can be placed over your terra-cotta arrangement. “Anything under glass looks more valuable,” says Brush. So get out there with your clippers, and start creating special arrangements that give your home that old-fashioned, festive feeling. ■

Reader Stephanie Hall from Port Shares Her Holiday Traditions • Singing Santa Hats “I have a whole collection of them. The adults wear them to embarrass the kids, and the younger ones love them.” • Slices Off the Bottom of Each Year’s Christmas Tree “Each year, I take the ‘fresh cut’ off the bottom of the tree trunk, and I write the year and something significant that took place. We have them all in a huge basket by the tree.” • Gift Exchange “Everyone brings a $25 gift that’s wrapped. Then we draw straws and take turns picking presents, stealing presents, strategizing and sometimes squabbling over crazy things, like the chocolate fountain or Starbucks gift card!” • Giving Back “We often try to ‘adopt’ another family. There is nothing more fun than checking off a wish list for a family that could use a hand. I try to get a family with children close to my son’s age, so he can pick gifts that he wants. We always include gifts (including gift cards and personal gifts) for the parents as well.”

Shag & Chrome & Fur, Oh My! By Joy Robinson

54 | GOLD COAST MAGAZINE

Learn how to make your house sparkle for every occasion The holidays are a wonderful time to get together with family and friends, and there are always plenty of festivities. If you’re planning to host a party at your home, adding a few new accents can help spruce it up for company. A terrific place to find inspiration right in the area is Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams. Their chic home design showroom on Northern Boulevard in Manhasset displays room after room of clever furniture and accessory pairings, so whether you’re looking for an upgrade to your dining room, or a new piece to add to your living room, you’ll find everything you need to dress up your decor. Gold Coast Magazine asked these two home furnishing masterminds to share their suggestions on how to incorporate the trendiest designs into your home, just in time for your celebrations. Gold Coast: How do you even begin to dream up the rooms in your stores? Bob Williams: One of the things we look at is what’s happening in pop culture, whether it’s in movies, magazines or fashion. That serves as our indicator for how we feel the home furnishings market is going to move, and what people are looking for. In the last few years, one of the things we’ve noticed is that there’s a lot of interest in things that have a ’70s vibe. It’s that retro feel that’s bringing a lot of this look on. GC: Is there an item from that era that stood out to you and ended up in your stores? BW: Yes, we gravitated toward fur as an accent piece, whether it’s on pillows, ottomans, cocktail tables or, of course, on unique chairs. When I came across a picture of a Shaker-style chair, it occurred to me that if we changed the medium from wood to metal, it would give the chair a modern, updated feel. In the last few years, we’ve seen a big influence of brass in home furnishings, so we developed a new brass finish just to go on what we call our Tibetan chair. When we mixed all the elements together, we realized we had something really special and fun. GC: Talk to us about the resurrection of shag rugs. They seem to be popping up again in home design. BW: Yes, we’ve got a couple of shag rugs that have been in the Gold + Williams line for the last few years, and they are actually some of the more popular rugs we have. We call them Power Shag. Ours The Daphne Return Swivel Chair are a little more refined than the shag of the ’70s. We use threads and fibers that are longer and thinner, so they aren’t quite so puffy. They offer a very nice contrast in texture to a hardwood floor.

GC: What’s a faux pas someone might make when putting this Power Shag look together in a home? BW: Faux pas are pretty easy to avoid because the rugs come in solid colors, and the texture of the yarn and the way it moves gives any room a lot of visual interest. It’s fairly mistake-proof. The colors we sell won’t fight with any other colors in a room. The two most popular lately are the white and the off-white. GC: What types of accent-piece materials should go in a room with a Power Shag rug? BW: Mix in the metals. We’ve been showing a lot more stainless steel, which is now what chrome was in the ’70s. Plus, stainless steel doesn’t rust and is much more environmentally friendly than chrome. Of course, for the last year and a half, we’ve also been using a lot of brass. Bright brass or antique brass gives a different feel. There are also various types of wood that we offer on our case

goods and tables. A wooden table makes a room much more functional, because no matter where you sit, you’ll want to put your feet up. GC: How do you feel about ottomans used as tables and/or chairs? BW: Upholstered ottomans are great if you entertain a lot. They can function as a place to sit, but if entertaining friends is not a priority, that ottoman becomes an easy place for putting your feet up or adding a tray with a drink. I actually have a peacock leather ottoman in my den. A sectional wraps around it. That colored ottoman is the focal point of the room.

GC: What is your advice for people who are getting ready to decorate a new home this season or even just looking to redo one room? BW: I would ask them to really think about how they want to use that particular room or a certain part of the room. Will they entertain friends? Will they want to be able to sit up and have a conversation or use it as a place to simply relax, watch television or read a book? The furniture really needs to be functional for the way they want to use the space. It’s important to not get so consumed with what style to go with or what color to use. First, decide how you want to use the space, and that will make it so much easier to find the right pieces that will work for you and your family. GC: Can members of your staff assist customers inside their homes? Mitchell Gold: Our Manhasset location has experienced design associates, and many of them are qualified designers or have a design background. They can do floor plans and make home visits for as little as $200, which gets credited against a purchase of $2,000 or more. Our team is there to help you blend in pieces that you already have, and help you make new things work so that you can sit in a pretty room for years to come. â–

Dazzling Designs Port Washington jeweler Annie Fensterstock shares her favorite pieces By Colleen Maidhof

Jeweler Annie Fensterstock takes pride in her handmade designs. “I don’t use any jewelry molds. Since each piece is made individually, everything takes much longer to make and every piece is different,” she said. After studying jewelry design at the University of Michigan, she worked as an apprentice for goldsmiths. After about eight years, she created her own collection. Today, her jewelry is featured in stores throughout the country, including Hirshleifers in Manhasset and Fragments in Manhattan. She enjoys working very closely with her customers for custom pieces, and she is proud of all her designs. “My jewelry has a very unique style, and it’s timeless, edgy and glamorous.” She explained, “I’m continually inspired by all of the beauty that surrounds me—art, nature, music and my family.”

The Strata Necklace has a center emerald surrounded by more emeralds, sapphires, and purple and white diamonds.

What: Cuff Group The stack of cuffs are constructed from 22K yellow gold, 18K white gold and blacked silver with diamonds, rubies and sapphires (from top: Miriam, $550; 6 Diamonds, $850; Swirl, $2,150; Monty, $2,100). “These work for teenagers and adults, and are unisex. They mix in perfectly with any bracelets—bangles, cuffs and links—and are available in a range of price points to suit any budget or style.”
