On Friday, September 28 and Saturday 29, Horst Auctioneers, Ephrata, Pennsylvania, will hold their next Catalogued Antique Auction, featuring 788 lots of Americana. The first 295 lots of the sale will be the collection of Anthony Tafel, of Newark, Delaware. Mr. Tafel is the author of Everyday Artifacts: America 1750-1850. The auction will feature a majority of the items photographed and described in his book. The Tafel collection emphasizes artifacts of early American everyday life that were useful for surveying land, building log homes, farming land, traveling, blacksmithing and cabinetmaking.
