Anthony felt the call to help children who were on their way to aging out of the foster care system Through this call he started doing respite services with NewPath Child and Family Services While he was doing respite he adopted his three children, Blade, Matthew, and Christian.

Blade was in a group home in Dayton, OH and according to his county case worker, it was one of the best in the state. It was hopeless, to say the least. Blade's caseworker described him as, "A lost child with darting eyes looking for safety and unsure of himself." This group home was in an area of West Dayton with high crime rates and failing schools.
