Great Programs to Start the New Year! January 2017 Message from 2017 MVCA President Sherry Wenograd First of all, Happy New Year to all of our members and all of your families!!! We wish all of you a new year full of happiness, health and prosperity! We want to say a special “thank you” to our MVCA Heroes, who made presentations at our Holiday Luncheon in December. We are honored to be in the same association with you wonderful people. You make the world a better place and we thank you for that! I am honored to be your President for the coming year. I would like to acknowledge the 2017 Board of Directors, and thank them all for their service to our organization. Please help me in welcoming the following folks: Officers Vice President - Mary Parker, Golden Bear Insurance Secretary - Katie Howard, Wingard Construction Treasurer - Staci Moreno, Frontier Adjusters and Board Members - Bryan Harrison; Tom Shefchick; John Tucker and Marvin Wengrad. Our goal is to make our association thrive and to educate our members and create a social environment filled with friendships and opportunities for networking. Our January speaker is Attorney Gregory Meath, who will be speaking on “Cyber Law.” We are excited to have this gentleman as our speaker and you do not want to miss this presentation, on a subject so relevant in today’s world!

Our February speaker will be Attorney Christine Reed of Low, Ball & Lynch, who will be making our yearly Fair Claims Settlement Practices Act “Certification Class” presentation. Ms. Reed will have certificates for each of you who will attend. You can fulfill your DOI requirements and become certified for 2017 in February! We hope to see all of you in January and February. We try very hard to provide the best educational opportunities for our members; all we ask from you is your attendance. Our association can grow and thrive, if you attend our luncheons and ask your business associates to join us. If we increase our membership and have good attendance, we can have golf tournaments and other social events that we can all enjoy. Respectfully submitted,

Fair Claims Recertification Scheduled for February 17, 2017 luncheon meeting, with Christine Reed, of Low Ball & Lynch

Insurance claims adjusters are required by state law to be recertified annually on the California Department of Insurance “Fair Claims Settlement Practices Act”.

Re-certification can be done simply. Even attending a regular luncheon meeting like the February 17, 2017 Mid-Valley Claims Christine Reed Association meeting, will do the trick. Low Ball & Lynch The MVCA is pleased to welcome back Ms. Christine Reed, a shareholder at Low Ball & Lynch, out of their Monterey office, to conduct this year’s re-certification meeting. Christine Balbo Reed joined the firm of Low Ball & Lynch in 2003. She practices in the areas of employment, personal injury, premises liability, construction defect defense. Ms. Reed specializes in the representation of developers and general contractors, and employers in employment law, litigation and wage disputes. She is admitted to practice in the State of California, before the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, and in the Northern, Central, and Eastern Districts of the Federal Courts.

Recognition to Local “Heroes” at December MVCA Holiday Luncheon By Bryan Harrison

Whether working to manage a feral cat problem, providing shelter and a better life for women in crisis, or flying patients in remote locations for hospital treatment, there are those who do what they can to help others. The Mid-Valley Claims Association celebrated some of those folks at the December 19, 2016 luncheon meeting. Anny Olwin and Jackie Dekker were on-hand representing the Mountain House Feral Cat Rescue. Ms. Dekker has served as the founding president of the organization beginning in 2012, and Ms. Olwin is the current president. Anny reported that the group has experienced tremendous success in reducing the ongoing proliferation of wild cats in town there. Olga Rodriguez, Executive Director at Haven of Peace, described for the group the work their organization does in serving Sherry Wenograd, Bob Tucknott, Jackie Dekker, Anny Olwin, Haven of Peace guest, Olga Rodriguez and 2016 as a homeless shelter for women and children. PT&C/LWG Forensic Consulting Announces Corporate Re-branding to Envista Forensics

January 3, 2017 PT&C/LWG Forensic Consulting announced today that the Company has changed its name to Envista Forensics.

“This new brand captures the essence of the Company’s strength in investigation and conveys their global forensic consulting capabilities,” stated Jennifer Gaster, VP of Marketing, with the announcement. The name change was made effective January 1, 2017. In December 2014, PT&C/LWG Forensic Consulting was formed when Atlanta, GA based PT&C Forensics acquired Northbrook, IL based LWG Consulting. Both industry leading forensic engineering firms had been providing consulting services to the

insurance and legal industries. “The PT&C/LWG brand facilitated the smooth, global integration of two extremely successful organizations.”

and who we continue to aspire to be.”

CEO Grover Davis said, “Two years ago, when PT&C and LWG joined forces, we believed it to be critically important that we convey to our clients, and especially to our associates, that we were one company and one brand with a common culture predicated on serving our clients with a sense of urgency. We believe that our combining the brands of these two great companies, at least for a period of time, coupled with our continued growth, successfully accomplished this. Now that we have had these two years to demonstrate that we truly are one company, it is time to take the next step,” he added. “Our new brand, Envista Forensics, captures the essence of who we are,

• Focused, strategic growth of their Canadian operations.

As PT&C/LWG, the organization was said to have made exceptional progress including:

• Expansion of their successful digital forensics practice, through the May 2016 acquisition of Raleigh, North Carolina based Guardian Digital Forensics. • Investments in internal finance, accounting and customer relationship management systems to ensure the successful continued growth of the organization. Bob Wedoff, President of the firm, shared, “With its subtle reference to providing a clear view, our new name affirms our mission to provide ‘Certainty in an Uncertain World’. The arc in our logo is clearly a nod to the

proud history of our company, but its pairing with the checkmark announces our commitment not only to be the global choice for forensics, but also to be the employer of choice for smart, talented individuals who desire to serve others when it is most needed.” For more, go to: www.EnvistaForensics.com, or contact Jennifer Gaster, Vice President-Marketing at (224) 406-9809 or jennifer. gaster@envistaforensics.com.
