Energy Landscapes | Shaping the energy transition in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area

Stakeholders Identification While creating a strategy for the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area that envisions renewable energy sources through the perspective of energy landscapes, the interaction with the human scale is crucial. Therefore it is important to identify the stakeholders. Stakeholders can be defined as: “People or small groups with the power to respond to, negotiate with, and change the strategic future of the organization” [p. 117, Eden and Ackermann, 1998]. The project is focused on the regional scale, but the energy sector obviously transcends these boundaries. Plus it indirectly relates with a lot of other business sectors as well. In their report on the scope of the energy sector for NEV2014, the CBS defines the energy sector as follows:

“ ‘All activities that concern the production, distribution and sales of energy as well as the production of energy related products and services.’ Subsequently energy related products and services can be defined as ‘all products and services that directly and exclusively are being used for the production, distribution and saving of energy.’ “ [2014] Of course the storage of energy should be part of these products and services as well but this is a rather new market that yet has to be developed more and the report of the CBS is merely an exploration, described by themselves as being in the learning phase. Nevertheless their demarcation of the energy sector is extensive and well substantiated. Therefore I will make use of table 1 of their report, which can also be found in Appendice C, for the indentification of the private stakeholders. Together with public, and ngo’s, the following stakeholders can be identified.
