I Wouldn’t Change a Thing by: Megan Wiens
I remember walking into my first day at McPherson High School. My brother stood at the front doors passing out DumDum suckers, telling freshmen “Don’t be a Dum-Dum.” No worries, though. I remember walking into my first day at McPherson High School. My brother stood at the front doors passing out Dum-Dum suckers with his club. He was telling incoming freshmen “Don’t be a Dum-Dum.” No worries, though. I didn’t plan on being a Dum-Dum-, in fact, I thought I was pretty smart. Smart enough to have this whole high school thing figured out. I couldn’t have been more wrong. High school didn’t exactly go as planned. I made mistakes and got stressed out, but I also had the time of my life. Every day something unexpected happened, and I learned to love that. I became friends with people I’d never thought I’d talk to. I joined clubs and activities I never thought I would care about. I grew closer to my friends and classmates more than I thought was possible. I even learned to listen to my teachers and parents, and found out they really did know what they were talking about. My experience in high school might not have been exactly what I expected walking into those front doors four years ago, but I wouldn’t change a thing.

During the past four years, seniors have sat through their fair share of pep rallies, test taking days, advisory periods, and assemblies, but now it is time to celebrate high school coming to an end. We finally did it. We made it out of the underclassmen tunnel and we can finally see the light. Even though high school may be coming to an end,
I hope that the relationships and memories we have will not be gone as well. Whether you want to admit it or not, as a class we have made connections with each other that are irreplaceable. Whether they are boycotting prom at Perkins, getting lost in the hexes as freshman, or the chaotic pep rallies, we all have one thing in common- we are all Bullpups. Now that we are about to turn our own ways, I hope that everyone can look back and remember all the great memories that we have made as a class. As Bullpups.
