Lammas is a time of gratitude and prosperity. It is also known as Lughnasadh (LOO-nahsah or LOO-nah-sahd) and is the festival of the first harvest. This Sabbat takes place on August 1st {or February 1 for our Southern Hemisphere readers} At the beginning of August, corn, wheat, barley, and most other grains are ready to be picked from the fields. The festival of Lammas is primarily a first harvest festival and a celebration of bounty. The goddesses that are honored at this time are sun goddesses as well as those of the fields, hearth and home. We are focusing on Demeter + Hestia + Lakshmi for our ceremony.

Depending on your tradition, there are a number of ways you can celebrate this Sabbat. I always start with a blessing as I create sacred space. I burn sage. Do a card reading. Get in tune. You might want to read up on Lammas: HERE’S a great resource.
