Concept Statement The Rust Belt Art Gallery will take you back in time to experience an industrial feel in modern-day Upstate New York with the factory style light fixtures and rustic accents throughout. In this charming, picturesque gallery, the art is the focal point. Solid, white walls to showcase artwork and sculpture help to encourage all attention to the magnificent works that are on display. Avant garde art is the theme for this gallery to bring new, exciting forms of art to this historical, old row house. Transforming the gallery into a meeting space will be a breeze with moveable walls and chairs. This space will be designed to support members only gatherings, political meetings, receptions, and intimate ceremonies. The Rust Belt Gallery will feature works from local artists as well as an in-house collection from Ernest Mancoba, a well-known avant garde artist from South Africa. Sculpture pieces will also be incorporated throughout with custom-made pedestals. Sustainable design will play a huge role in this space with the bamboo and rubber flooring, along with recycled glass tiles. Materials chosen for the space will promote toxin-free living keeping indoor air quality in mind. Energy efficiency will be achieved with the LED lighting and low VOC paint on every wall and ceiling. The industrial theme will be carried throughout the gallery in various forms, including the factory style suspension lamps in the catering kitchen as well as the brick tiles and reclaimed wood in the residential space. Old, galvanized pipes will be icreatively ncorporated to serve as storage and shelving units; keeping dĂŠcor simple, yet pleasing. bare windows in the gallery and limiting the furnishings in the small space will help contribute to the industrial style aesthetic.
