Bradenton couple delivers on ghost walks From ghoulies and
BY TOM VAUGHT SUN STAFF WRITER | tvaught@amisun.com
BRADENTON – As the haunting hour nears, a group of believers gathers every week to catch up with the souls of the dearly departed. That group, known as the Paranormal Society of Bradenton, travels through downtown Bradenton on Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 and 7:45 p.m., trying to communicate with those who went before them. The group was started by Ron and Liz Reed, both of whom have had personal experiences. They spoke before a dozen people at the Island Branch Library in October. The couple showed their tools of the trade including receptors that catch high electromagnetic fields and convert them into sight or sound. Some of them can convert the energy into words. If you’re a believer or a skeptic, they welcome everyone to take the Bradenton Ghost Walk. “Something always happens,” Liz Reed said of the walks. “We meet the same souls.” Those things that go bump in the night are sometimes identifiable, but there are others that are just plain creepy, like the time a tree fell over while they were in an old cemetery in Palma Sola. Liz said she was once startled when she realized a rebel Civil War soldier in uniform was standing next to her.

FROM THE PARANORMAL SOCIETY OF BRADENTON WEBSITE
The Paranormal Society of Bradenton holds walking tours of the city, visiting houses and areas where members have experienced contact with energy sources that might indicate contact from the grave. “The main symptom when you contact an energy source is you feel cold,” said Ron. They will come to your house to investigate the unexplained and they
don’t try to press the point that there is a haunting, “We try to debunk things and if we can’t, we try to communicate with them,” Liz said.

The two have been busy at the historic houses and mansions of some famous people who lived in ManateeSarasota counties, such as the John Ringling House and the Crosley Estate. They expressed interest in exploring the Island Players and the AMI Historical Museum along with the historic house on the grounds of the museum. At their Website, paranormalsocietyofbradenton.worpress.com, they list Stanley Hotel, of Estes Park, Colo., as one place they would like to investigate. The venerable hotel was the site of “The Shining,” a super-scary movie written by Stephen King. If you want to put some authenticity, visit their Website and sign up for the Bradenton tour. You won’t need to do any tricks, and with some luck, you’ll be treated to a scary good time.
