INSTALLATIONS

SENZA TITOLO

Anna Marangon, “Senza titolo”, 2012, 300 x 100 cm, Installation

This braid made of wood branches resemble a hair braid. The analogy is yet obvious and given by the fact that I braided, varnished and bounded the branches (with a jute tape), in order to give a meaningful form. These dead items get a new lease on life. The effect shows a wooden braid that seems to look wistfully to the past life. The tape jute that bounds the braid in a bow, it’s a personal touch which expresses my personality, as a natural fiber as it is, it connects to the rest of the artwork.

TYLE HAIR

Anna Marangon,“Tile hair”, 2012, 10,5 x 10,5 cm cad., print on tyles

The concept of this artwork has its roots in the idea of the death, or better in the cellular decomposition of a human body. “Scientific research leads us to understand that every day, from 300 millions to over half a trillion cells in our body dies (depending on our level of toxicity) and each of them contains an average of 5,000 to 20,000 mitochondria. When the cells die they are destroyed by their own lysosomes, but the nucleus and the genomes of mitochondria are protected much better than other organelles and cell protoplasm and they often do not decompose completely. The decomposition can be seen immediately from hair loss, but the fact that they don’t decompose completely is demonstrated by resistance of the color in the hair, which remains even when it dropped.Growth, fall and regrow hair, it’s a cycle that repeats about twenty times during a person’s existence.” Printed on three tiles. The picture of the hair gives the idea of documentation, better than any other form of artistic reproduction. The graphic mark given by the black and white contrast of the picture, stands out against the white tile, that gives the idea of death as a normal part of daily life.

TO FORCE, TO WIN

Anna Marangon, “To force, to win”, 03:06 min, Video HD

Anna Marangon, “To force, to win”, 15 x 10 cm, leather, nylon, coppert

Anna Marangon, “To force, to win”, Variable dimension, leather, nylon, coppert

The artwork is setted up using three different languages: video, painting and installation and it is composed by copper, nylon and faux leather. The faux leather falls down, helded in mid-air by nylon threads. The skin parts are fastened by the copper. Nylon is transparent, copper is a thermally conductive element, the faux leather lies shapeless. The face, in the video, is squizzed by the nylon. The pain is actually clear till the moment that it can not act anymore. The three frames highlight the three elements in which the installation is based. In each frame, every single element has a different conformation from the others because of its symbolic meaning.

SENZA TITOLO

Anna Marangon, Alice Musi, Giulia Incani, Marko Bjelancevic, “Senza titolo”, 2013, Sound installation

Screenshot taken from the video documentation of the artwork

Site specific project, in collaboration with Alice Musi, Giulia Incani and Marko Bjelancevic, created for the ArtNight event at the Academy of Fine Arts. The project consist in a recording of several titles of artworks by various artists / students of the Academy. The recording has been emited during the whole event thanks to the sound system in the building. Only when the heading “Senza titolo” (“Titleless”) was heard people could understand the meaning of the artwork, which can be re-adapted and used for different situations combining various titles of the works in many other different places.

YOU ARE HERE: FEEL FREE TO FEEL WRONG

Anna Marangon, “You are here: feel free to feel wrong”, 2015, black scotch tape

Collateral exhibition to the “Virgola fuori posto” project, this installation is focused on the comma symbol, in realationship with the “you are here” symbol that we can find in all the city’s maps. When we think about a map we think about a right place to be in; that’s why, in relatioship with the project, this exhibition wants to distort a right place and create a metaphorical “right/wrong” place where to stay and pacifically feel wrong. Everyone that will enter in the exhibition will accept to be interview and share a “fish out of water ”experience in the site.

THIS IS NOT A PLURAL

Anna Marangon, “This is not a plural”, 2015, mixed media installation

“This is not a plural, but only one, it’s a singular (the case) changing place, staying in shape. The fixed concept disappears in its birth leaving a track”. The title of the second collateral exhibition linked to the “Virgola fuori posto” project it’s taken from a phrase presents in the artwork “Translation needed”. Ten posters and the cut-up video show some of the most significant interviews taken for the site; “Traces” is another artwork made by several papers in which appears a poem created by the traces that the marker leaves behind itself, in every single step it did. The meaning and the coding language disappeared and left a track behind themselves. The entire exhibition is based on the meaning of the term “track”: from the people’s interviewed experiences, to the need to leave traces writing a diary, and again, to the disappearance of a thought which born in a language and grows through another language; all unanimously recreate an exhibition which talks about the (not) need to understand a trace.

PHOTOGRAPHIC PROJECTS

SELF PORTRAIT

Anna Marangon, “Self portrait, 2013, 20 x 30 cm, photographic series

A photographic serie originated by the need to discover the body in a physically and intellectually way. The body bends and stretches, it embraces and hides trying to show its curves, but also the corners, the recesses and the protrusions. A self-analysis that lead to the search for points of light and shadows inside and outside the body. The b/n colour stands out the shadows, the concave parts, the bones and the skin. To meaning is given by the light, the positions and the b/n colour.

FAIRY TALE - ERROR

Anna Marangon, “Error, 2013, 100 x 70 cm, edited photo

The work has required a change because of several problems derived from Internet, i.e. the authorisation to upload photos / works with people' faces. For this reason I had to hide the face of the prince in question, and referring to the logic of Internet and the uploaded files, I had to literally "stuck" the notorious symbol when we look for a page, an image uploaded and consequently deleted: 404 FILE NOT FOUND. A game, maybe, who takes up the idea that the Sleeping Beauty, saved by the prince, is no longer allowed to see and to recognise the face of his savior. So it born "Error", a work that tells about the inconvenience that internet creates, the logics that are at the base of cybernetics reality and which are dictated, and sometimes nicked, by the logic of reality, in the strict sense of the term.

VIDEO

DANCING SHOES

Anna Marangon, “Dancing shoes”, 2012, Video HD, Video loop

The video is created by alternating the stop motion technique and short videos. It’s allowed a free and personal interpretation thanks to the lack of an explanation. The strarting idea was to create a "light" video, that’s different from other strongly themed contemporary artworks, to reach moments of spiritual genuine lightness. It’s highlighted the playful aspect.

NINNA NANNA

Anna Marangon, “Ninna Nanna”, 2012, 00.52 min, Video HD

The video repeats one of the most intimate memories of a person. The frame’s choice focuses on the lips which is singing the Venetian song "I Gobetti".

NTADAY

Giulia Incani, Anna Marangon, Alice Musi, “Ntaday”, 2014, Video HD, Video Loop

It’s an experimental collective project set up in the university department based in San Servolo. A cut - up of video shooting that talks about the peculiar time and sound dimension that can be felt on the island, and, at the same time, it talks about the different ways of perception of places and situations. The editing of the video gives the idea of “lightness”.

HTTPS

Anna Marangon, “Https”, 2014, 2:52 min, Video HD

“Https ", it's a sort of private diary. It's more a connotative video than a denotative one, based on the concept of "link": the link itself seems to be connotative if it's written on a piece of paper, but it's denotation of a mood, a personal search, a past life; as a kind of private diary, which may also continue forever, but it needs something else to be understood. In this case the knowledge of a language is not yet completed. It takes time to aknowledge a secret. The video is based on the project "Https: //", a journal diary.

GLI AMANTI

Anna Marangon, “Gli amanati”, 2014, loop, Video HD

“Gli amanti” (The lovers) takes a direct inspiration from the Magritte painting “Gli amanti”, creating a re-make of this artwork. At the base of the video there is the concept of " impossibility": the impossibility to get further. The subject is represented by two lovers that metaphorically will never be able to approach. It, also, hides another meening: the impossibility to speak and to understand each other. The desired love doesn't succeed in being cultivated. Eliminated the white veil, the thread takes place, which is probably strong to defeat. The sound is the slowmo crackling of a fire which creates wide fluctuations in the noise.

PAINTING

ROCCIA DELL’ORSO, IPERREALISMO

Anna Marangon, “Roccia dell’orso”, 2014, 50 x 70 cm , Acrylic on canvas

The artwork is conceptual mold and It aims as a direct connection to reality. Images are , in this way, already images thanks to links and the writing. So it born a deconstruction of the reality, and of the hyperrealism, thanks to a hypertext.

NETART

AQUAE INTERNATIONALIS

Anna Marangon, Alice Musi, Giulia Incani, “Aquae internationalis, 2013, Net art

http://aquaeinternationalis.tumblr.com/ "Aquae Internationalis" is a project created by the collaboration among Alice Musi, Anna Marangon and Giulia Incani during the 55. International Art Exhibition - Venice Biennale 2013. The aim of this project is to present an alternative map (different from the official one), focused on peculiar sites and not on the official events organised for the Exhibition. These new sites are designed as international water areas (i.e. freedom of navigation) so everybody can visit them. Regarding to this, it's possible to see and check any custosomisation of the sites through the web platform, and it's also possible to find them on Google Maps using the coordinates given. .

UPSTAIRS

Anna Marangon, “Upstairs”, 2012, Netart, No profit art gallery

http://williamannaupstairs.blogspot.it/ The project starts from the idea of creating a no proft space for art. I choose a particular and specific location, that’s crucial, infact it’s a private home: the frame, in order to document the donated video, is placed on the shelf of my bedroom. The idea of a no phisic space is crucial to highline that art can be shown in any way and in any place. I try to give life to a project that not only combines private life (from the location, to the use of personal social networks) to public life, but also art and everyday life.

VIRGOLA FUORI POSTO

Anna Marangon, “Virgola fuori posto”, 2015, Net art

http://virgolafuoriposto.tumblr.com/ The project is based on the idea of sharing an individual experience about the moment in which ones have felt like a “fish out of water”. Creating a sort of connection and a collaboration between people around the world, it shows the reaction to the question “have you ever felt like a fish out of water?”. It is created by different kind of interviews, from video to photos, where different people can share their little experience. It creates a kind of networking usefull to overpass the bad moment and share it with other people to have a moment of comparison and comfort. More info in the site.
