At the end of 2008 and the beginning of 2009, there were several shipments of open and bred Angus heifers which totalled 1300 head. ese Angus shipments were part of a full cargo shipment of beef and dairy cattle to both Southern and Central Russia. In spring 2011 there was a shipment of 1400 purebred beef open heifers and bulls to Far East Russia, of which 380 head of this shipment were Angus heifers and bulls. e animals were loaded out of the Ports of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada and arrived at the Port of Vanino, Russia. is was the first shipment of Canadian cattle to this region and the animals from this shipment were then allocated on 10 farms in Far East Russia. Kazakhstan. Almost 35% of our cattle shipments were beef cattle; more than half of it, which totals over 4300 head were purebred, open and bred Black and Red Aberdeen Angus heifers and bulls.
Kazakhstan Market We started working with The Republic of Kazakhstan in 2008 and have shipped over 1000 head of dairy bred and open heifers to this country since then. Subsequently in the last year, The Republic of Kazakhstan has wanted more beef cattle. Under their Agricultural Beef Development Program, Kazakhstan requested a large number of purebred Angus and Hereford cattle to upgrade their genetics. Therefore, from September to November 2011 we have been working on this project in order to export 5 planes of cattle, of which 4 planes carried beef cattle to Kazakhstan. Half of this beef shipment included Black Angus bred heifers and bulls for a total of 430 head. Every Monday for 5 weeks, we had a plane leave from Mirabel Airport, Quebec, Canada destined for Astana Airport, Kazakhstan with an average of 185 head on board. These animals were then delivered to different places in Northern Kazakhstan. The loading of the most recent shipment of Angus cattle was attended by Wayne Gallup, Eastern Fieldman for the Canadian Angus Association.
