Preventing Falls Program Held
Richard Derwald of Erie County Senior Services recently presented a program on preventing falls to a group of seniors at the Eden Town Hall. The program was co-sponsored by the ACES group and Community Concern. Veronica Sullivan of Community Concern introduced Richard to the group. Every year one in three seniors fall, leading to many injuries. Preventing falls is a matter of balance and maintaining muscle strength. Richard led the group through a series of exercises for the hands, arms, legs, and feet that all were able to do and could easily be done at home. A more in depth program on falls prevention, A Matter of Balance, will also be at the Eden Town Hall beginning on September 21. The program runs for 8 weeks with 2 hour sessions each week. The Buffalo Civil War Roundtable is pleased to announce that Carl Modica, a resident of Eden has been elected President. Carl is a photographer and longtime Civil War enthusiast. The club is dedicated to the study of the American Civil War and presents speakers five times per year open to the public.
