NIAGARA UNIVERSITY ANNOUNCES SPRING 2013 DEAN’S LIST
The Miraculous Prayer
Dear Heart of Jesus, in the past I have asked for many favors. This time I ask you this very special one. Take it, Dear Jesus, and place it within your own broken heart where your Father sees it. Then, in our merciful eyes, it will become your favor, not mine. Amen. Say this prayer for 3 days. Promise publication and favor will be granted. H. S.
The following students were named to the Niagara University academic dean’s list for the spring 2013 semester. To qualify, students must attain a 3.25 academic gradepoint average for the semester. Brittany Braasch, Kelly Butterfield, Kyle Flitton, Amanda Hurst, Stephanie Wattie, Kimberly Vona. For more information on programs and offerings, go to www.niagara.edu. Founded by the Vincentian community in 1856, Niagara University is a private liberal arts university with a strong, values-based Catholic tradition. Its four academic divisions include the colleges of Arts and Sciences, Business Administration, Education, and Hospitality and Tourism Management. The university also maintains an Academic Exploration Program that provides a learning environment for students who are undecided about their major. As the first Vincentian university established in the United States, Niagara prepares students for personal and professional success while emphasizing service to the community in honor of St. Vincent de Paul. LAKESHORE BEACH SOCCER TOURNAMENT
On Saturday, June 8th, 2013, the first ever Lakeshore Beach Soccer Tournament was held at Mickey Rats Beach Club to benefit Lakeshore Youth Soccer Association, Inc. (LYSA). About seventy players registered for the tournament from as far away as Salamanca and Geneseo, New York. There were both men's and co-ed teams. Teams included O.P. Maroon, FC Hightide, Salamanca Warriors, Fanity Mair, Manity Fair, Los Retos, Schlagen, O.P. White, Fat Chicks & Hat Tricks, and the Green Street Houligans. The tournament was organized by LYSA, FC Buffalo(our region's professional men's soccer team), Empire United Soccer Academy and Soccer Home LLC, a private soccer training company. Prizes included LYSA refrigerator magnet clips, Lakeshore soccer balls, Mickey Rats tee shirts, and team pride. There was a great, fun atmosphere at the tournament, with beach music playing in the background throughout. The teams battled in misty weather through a Round Robin, and then enjoyed fair weather for the playoffs. The winners of the tournament were, for Co-Ed: Fat Chicks & Hat Tricks, besting Manity Fair, and for Men's: Schlagen, overcoming a young O.P. Maroon team. A fun time was had by all, and another Lakeshore Beach Soccer Tournament to benefit LYSA is planned for August 10th, 2013, in Sunset Bay, NY. Continue to check www.lakeshorebeachsoccer.com for more information about location, youth and adult divisions, and registration. __________
