Hello and welcome Thank you for taking an interest in Anglia Ruskin University. I very much hope you will join our progressive, thriving and highly successful academic community.
Our support is focused right from the start on helping you work towards your chosen career. One example is the help and support offered to obtain the volunteering opportunities and experiences that employers value so much. We also provide every student in years two and three the chance to study our entrepreneurship module. We have close partnerships with local, national and international businesses and, at the time of writing, 9 out of 10 of our students leaving us report being in employment, further study or both within six months of graduating*.
Whilst this prospectus will give you much of the information you need, I encourage you to join us at one of our Open Days. That is when you will discover at first-hand what a friendly place we are, offering plenty of support and guidance throughout your student experience with us.
Our international outlook is something else you will notice. Increasing numbers of overseas students choose to study with us, helping us develop a truly diverse community here – so be ready to meet people from widely differing cultures and backgrounds and with very different life experiences from your own! We are proud to be a global university working hard to make our visionary goal of taking university education in imaginative new directions a reality. But we are also proud of our long history. This dates back to 1858, when John Ruskin founded the Cambridge School of Art, now part of our Cambridge campus. Ruskin had wide-ranging interests, including painting, architecture and philosophy; with a creative, enquiring mind, he was not afraid to be unconventional. These are all qualities we encourage in our students, not only because they enrich academic life here but because they are the very skills that the community values in our graduates.
You can take advantage of these opportunities at one of our four main campuses: in Cambridge itself, the historic seat of learning; or in one of two cathedral cities, Chelmsford and Peterborough, or in our incredible capital, London. All four offer a lively, rewarding setting for student life, and provide access to excellent facilities for study and social activities. We are constantly striving to improve our campuses, and our developments continue with the needs of our students and the environment in mind. Our campuses reflect our environmental values and we encourage ‘green’ thinking, for example through our encouragement of the use of public transport. We have also set up partnerships with a range of further and higher education institutions across the South-Eastern region to enable university education to be available more locally for those who cannot or do not want to travel. We know that choosing a university is one of the most important decisions you will make and we hope you enjoy finding out more about us, and that you will consider joining us. We are committed to making your time here happy and fulfilling – and to supporting you in your next steps in life. Whatever you read in the press, the personal and economic case for the value of a university education remains compelling. After a university education you will never be the same again!
