Evening Slideshows EVENING OF SLIDESHOWS AT THE FCC ANGKOR A highly-anticipated and integral part of the festival, the daily evening slideshows are held outdoors on the grounds of the FCC Angkor, and this year’s program featured almost 11o sets of work over 8 evenings. Consistent with the festival’s mission of highlighting emerging Asian photographers, 7o of the 11o photographers exhibiting in 2o11 are from Asia. This year’s program was curated by : > Françoise Callier, the Program Coordinator of the Angkor Photo Festival, in consultation with a 9-member international committee. Each year, the festival dedicates 2 evenings of slideshows to two well-known figures in photography . Reminders Project Asian Photographers Grant The winner of the inaugural Reminders Project Asian Photographers Grant was announced on November 25th, 2o11, following a screening of the work of all five finalists.

ASIAN PHOTOGRAPHERS GRANT

A collaborative project by Yumi Goto / Reminders Project and the Angkor Photo Festival, this is the first grant specifically targeted at supporting Asian photographers working in Asia. 2o11 Jury Panel

As the winner of the grant, Andri Tambunan was awarded USD3ooo and a voucher from Blurb to continue his project on the AIDS/HIV pandemic in Papua, Indonesia. His work will also be shown at the Angkor Photo Festival in 2o12. Official Media Partner:

Angkor Photo Workshops Held for the 7th consecutive year, the free Angkor Photo Workshops was held from November 17 to 23, 2o11. This year, we had 27 participants from 12 Asian countries, who were tutored by renown, professional photographers who volunteered their time. The work of all workshop participants was shown at the evening slideshow event on the last day of the Angkor Photo Festival, on November 26, 2o11. 2o11 photo prize 2o11 PHOTO PRIZE Each year, as part of the Angkor Photo Festival, we award a participant of the Angkor Photo Workshops with the PHOTO PRIZE for the best photo story produced during the workshops. The three winners were selected by a jury panel, and announced on the closing night of the Angkor Photo Festival. 2o11 WINNER: Carrie Lam, Singapore « Cure » 1st Runner-Up: Adli Ghazali, Malaysia « Insha’allah » 2nd Runner-Up: Pham Ngoc Lan, Vietnam «Vietnamese Chronicle »

Anjali Photo Workshops

During the annual 1o-day free workshop, kids from Anjali House work with young Asian photographers who volunteer their time to tutor the children. CHILDREN’S DAY at Raffles Grand Hotel d’Angkor Garden Every year, as part of the festival, we organise a special day for children. This year, Children’s Day was held in the gardens of the Raffles Garden Hotel d’Angkor. The program included a special slideshow curated by Francoise Callier, readings by Anjali kids from their Creative Writing Workshops, as well as the results of the 2o11 Anjali Photo Workshops. The Anjali Photo Workshops is supported by :


Street Photography MOBILE STREET PHOTOGRAPHY by Anjali House’s young adults! With mobile Canon Selphy printers, three young adults from Anjali House took to the streets of Siem Reap to offer free portraits to local residents. They were supervised by tutors from the Anjali Photo Workshops. ‘‘For the first time, I was not shy to talk to people to ask them to take their photos!’’ - Pech ‘‘The part I like best is to see their faces when I give them their free photo!’’ - Sophal


BlowUp! Angkor Back again by popular demand, BlowUp! Angkor is a series of open and free street exhibitions organized by blindboys.org. Featuring the work of 35 photographers from all over the world, the team behind Blowup! Angkor went to various public spaces in Siem Reap to put up over 6oo prints.

Canon Workshop WORKSHOP FOR CANON PHOTO MARATHON WINNERS A partnership between Canon / i-Qlick and the Angkor Photo Festival, the nine winners of the 2o11 Canon Photo Marathon were treated to a fully-sponsored trip to Siem Reap to join us for the festival. During the festival, they also attended a special two-day photography workshop for them, conducted by well-known photographer Anne Holmes and held at popular cafe ArtDeli.
