BRAMHALL FESTIVAL SATURDAY 9TH JULY This year’s Bramhall Festival will be a right royal do in celebration of the Queen’s Jubilee on Saturday 9th July. It promises to be a day of family fun, with artisan markets on Bramhall Lane South and in the Village Square where the record fair will also be taking place. There will be food and drink around the village and live bands and entertainment on the Strawberry Radio stage on Bramhall Lane South. There will be a best royal dress-up parade at 2pm and a trophy for the best costume, so get your royal togs on and get yourself down there!info: bramhalltogethertrust.com
STOCKPORT HISTORICAL SOCIETY This photograph was taken sometime before the Station Road alignment works took place in the early 1960s. The main feature is one of Lane End farm’s large barns which were situated on today’s site of the Majestic Wines outlet which backs onto the original line of Station Road. Just visible on the far right of this photograph you can see the gable of a row of cottages which have now been converted into the Inventory bar. Lane End farmhouse was just

beyond these barns and faced Bellfield Avenue and the old Methodist Church. In the late 1950s the youth of this church entertained, for the day, young children from Moss Side and Hulme, spending much of their time in the farm fields which now form the Blenheim/ Marlborough estate.
