Our Story In 1988, local faith leaders got together to discuss the creation of a program that would address the homelessness problem in Gaithersburg. The group decided they would focus on homeless families and offer transitional housing — a model that provided case management, housing, and necessary life skills so that families would reenter their communities once they were ready. They went from serving 4 families to the total 28 families we have today. In the past thirty years, The Dwelling Place has touched the lives of nearly 300 families. Our approach is unique, and we are one of the few programs left that embrace the intensive case management approach to ensure families address the barriers that led to homelessness. We invite you to join our TDP family, to invest in the families’ futures, and to celebrate the work of the organization of the last thirty years so that we can continue to make a difference for the next 30 years — or more to come!
