DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT

East Seventh Street Park is part of a multi-phased hlstorlcal waterfront park development being undertaken by the Parks and Recreation Department of the City of Wilmington. The goal of this particular project Is to reclaim an existing hazardous and unsightly shoreline that was created In the past by fill material that included many large concrete sect ions and other debris. The intent of the proposed design is to create a natural riverbank by regrading back from the current mean high tide line, and stabilizing both the new bank and the intertidal zone with approprlate native vegetation, Where possible, the concrete sect ions are to be moved together and enc losed within a new wooden bulkhead, which will also provlde closer access to the water, BloCkS too large to move are to be covered within the contour of the new bank. The planting is designed to provide new aquatlc and terrestrial habitats at the river edge, with plants

ranging from herbai US aquatfcs, to grasses, Shr"b;,and trees.
