COVID-19 PREPAREDNESS PLAN | SAFETY POLICIES & PROCEDURES FOR THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY
Before leaving the jobsite, each worker must: • Clean down their equipment, tools, and work areas. • Thoroughly wash their hands, etc. Workers must always: • Ensure 6 feet distance and have no interaction with pedestrians, tenants, or building personnel during their shift. The project superintendent / foreman is the only individual to communicate with any such persons / personnel. • Restrict unnecessary persons / personnel from jobsite o All visitors are to follow the same procedures and utilize the same PPE requirements as the field workers.
NOTE: Protocol is to be followed anytime an individual enters or leaves the jobsite. This includes lunch breaks or other departure from controlled work area. It is highly encouraged not to leave the jobsite until the end of your shift. Cleaning & Hygiene •R espiratory etiquette includes covering coughs and sneezes with a tissue or into your elbow, disposing of tissue properly, and / or cleaning the body part used to contain the cough / sneeze. o Avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands. •U nless properly sanitized, do not share tools & equipment. • I f a worker develops symptoms at any time, notice must be given to their Supervisor and the worker must leave the site immediately. •N otify all (incl. CM’s / GC’s etc.) onsite if anyone has tested positive. • Workers are encouraged to bring lunch from home. • Workers are not to share food, drink, cell phones, personnel tools, clothing, PPE, towels, or equipment. • E quipment that needs to be shared among multiple workers must be properly cleaned / disinfected prior to another worker’s use. •M aintain cleaning records with daily logs that document date, time and scope of cleaning. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) • A mask or respirator will be required to be worn properly at all times during work: o Re-usable masks and respirators to be stored in a labelled storage vessel, when not in use. o Disposable masks should be discarded after every use (e.g.: after lunch). •P roper PPE training to occur prior to: job commencement, new work task, or for any new field personnel on boarded. o Must regularly inspect and maintain your PPE throughout the day. •G loves and eye protection must be worn at all times during work, regardless of task. • A Tyvek suit will be available upon request, even if not required by the work task. •N o PPE will be shared. • E nd of the day PPE care: o Properly remove, clean, store or dispose. o Field workers will be allowed to use PPE for their daily commute.
