Darlene Thompson as been an Andrews team member for 25 years.

Darlene started working as a caregiver with Andrews of Charlottetown in 1998 after spending a number of years running a child-care business out of her home

Having grown up in a family of nurses, care work always appealed to Darlene So, when the opportunity presented itself to start a career in the field, she jumped

"I enjoy helping people," she said "My mother worked in nursing care and I can remember going there as a child and enjoying being there When she'd get off work, I'd go up and visit I always enjoyed it "

Throughout her years at Andrews, she's seen a lot of team members pass through the organization While the faces have changed, she said the culture has remained the same

"A lot of people have come and gone, " she said "We all get along When you work with someone for so long, they (become) part of your family You sometimes treat them better than your family "
