Rooted: How did you get started in skiing?

“Nothing compared to skiing with my brothers and my friends, and the freedom of expression in the mountains that was simply unobtainable in spandex and gates.”

I suppose my ski career started when I committed to alpine racing like a full time job. It taught me discipline, hard work and perseverance. Although, I will admit, I was always the bad influence on the team. Every time it snowed 12” I ditched training to go soul shredding. Powder skiing was always my passion, my addiction. Nothing compared to skiing with my brothers and my friends, and the freedom of expression in the mountains that was simply unobtainable in spandex and gates. For better or for worse, I attained a number of racing-related injuries and quit skiing for Bates College on the NCAA circuit. That was almost exactly three years ago — since then, I’ve been completely enamored with skiing for fun.
