Andrew Clayton-Payne
Andrew Clayton-Payne is a distinguished British art dealer and author, renowned for his expertise in 17th to 19th-century British and European paintings, drawings, and watercolours. He began his career at Christie’s, where he served as Associate Director and Head of British Drawings and Watercolours. In 1997, he established his own gallery, A. Clayton-Payne & Co. Ltd, located in London’s art district near the Royal Academy of Arts. Clayton-Payne has authored several books on 19th-century art, including the best-selling Victorian Flower Gardens (1988), Flower Gardens of Victorian England (1990), and Victorian Cottages (2000). He has also contributed articles to publications such as Country Life and Collectors’ Guide.  His clientele includes prominent institutions like the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Tate Britain, and the Getty Museum. Notable sales from his gallery feature works by artists such as J.M.W. Turner, Thomas Gainsborough, and Samuel Palmer. Clayton-Payne is a member of the Society of London Art Dealers.
