Saying that 2020 has been a “rough year” is completely an understatement. For Jaela Green, our Dreamlette of the Year, it has been Saying that 2020 has been a “rough year” is completely an understatement. For Jaela Green, our Dreamlette of the Year, it has been a time of opportunities and change. She is 15 years old, a freshman at her local high school, and looking forward to taking the world by storm with her modeling career.

“I didn’t really know I wanted to model, but my mom submitted some photos to agencies and when I got in and started doing jobs I knew I would want to keep doing this,” Jaela said. She first started her career at the age of nine but she didn’t fully dive into her career until she was 10. She is now signed to Options Modeling and Media and out of all of her jobs, her favorite one to this date is Abercrombie’s shoot in Malibu. “It was really fun, I got to go swimming, and all the models and I had a fun time while shooting,” Jalea said. While in LA she was able to explore, try out different

restaurants, and visit her favorite city in California which is Beverly Hills. Social media is the birthplace for trends and movements. Jaela’s favorite thing about social media is that people can create a lot of things on there and make a whole living off of social media. She finds it fun and entertaining to see other people’s work and what they have created. Her current favorite trend that is circulating TikTok is by Megan Thee Stallion and is called Body. Women of all body types and sizes take the opportunity to show off their amazing bodies while spreading body positivity. bodies instead of body

shaming that happens on social media, and it just really gives body positivity which I like,” Jaela expressed. Jaela is a very “do it” type of person and loves to portray that through her media platforms. She wants to spread the message that the only person stopping you from doing what you want to do, is you. She encourages teens to make social media a better place by influencing people to not shame or judge others for who they are, then people would be more comfortable and happy with themselves. A way she stays confident is by “I like to hang out around positive people a lot because when they keep building your confidence you can build theirs and it becomes a healthy relationship.” The pandemic hasn’t affected her modeling career but it has taken a toll on her personal life. She was used to seeing her best friend every day but now she resorts to catching up via Facetime and is waiting for the day in which she can see her closest friends in person once again.

A way she’s been keeping busy is by indulging in her favorite hobby which is nail design. Jaela first got into nails at the beginning of the year and she’s been experimenting with different designs and types of nails. She has been creating press on sets for her friends and loves to come up with new designs. Her favorite design so far was one she created for her birthday, it was a long french tip set and neon-colored. One day she hopes to have an online site for her nail designs and possibly make it a storefront. Jaela’s hardest thing that she has had to overcome when it comes to modeling is trying to break down the barrier with her coworkers. It can get awkward from time to time but what helped her was to simply talk, at one point or another you’ll find something that you both have in common. She has met three of her closest friends through modeling, one in which she met up in LA and they both went on a Disney date and spent the whole day together. Out of all the rides, she concluded that her favorite ones are Splash Mountain and Indiana Jones. “A lot of times people look at modeling and say that it’s just photos, it’s easy, but it’s more than that,” In the eyes of Jaela, modeling can oftentimes be overlooked, “You have to give up a lot of things to do it and just having to come up with your poses is a lot so I do think it is a little overlooked”. Poses are something that she finds challenging especially those that end up in a lunge position but she finds the strength to overcome it even when she is in a tight dress. She’s excited to try out different and harder poses in her future. High fashion is truly her calling, she aspires to model for Chanel one day and be able to express herself through the unique poses.

“Bodies are different, we need to embrace people of color and different hair types,” Jalea said. She would one day hope to change the ways models are viewed, everyone’s bodies are different and not everyone holds the “model” standard and she would want for that to change within the modeling industry.”

When Jaela is not on set for her modeling jobs or working on her press-on kits you can find her in the kitchen whipping up some desserts. She loves baking and is currently taking a class so she can learn more about the craft. She enjoys baking molasses cookies but her latest baking craft was some buttery brown batter chocolate chip cookies. For her birthday she made her cake and continues to make them for her family and just for her enjoyment. Frosting her cakes is hard for her but when it comes to cupcakes she would say it’s more of a breeze and great practice. Jaela has many destinations she would love to travel to one day but her number one choice is France. She is currently taking French lessons online so she can speak it while she’s there. She doesn’t see herself living out of the country but she can see herself owning a little apartment in Paris one day. If you were taking a late-night car ride with Jaela her number one artist she would be blasting would be H.E.R. She would throw some R&B into the mix and ultimately anything 90’s would make the playlist. She loves everything about the 90’s fashion especially. Anything bucket hat and streetwear calls her name. The ’90s is a “vibe” she would want to be a part of.

Jaela has stayed optimistic this year by sticking true to herself and striving towards what she desires most in life. Her one true advice for anyone trying to become a model is, “The only thing stopping you is yourself, just go for it! If you like it then keep on doing it.”

Self-care is much needed and one way she indulges in this is by taking baths with bath bombs, Epsom salts and will sometimes light a candle. She also likes to paint because “The brush of the stroke is very calming, I find it very calming and peaceful to do by myself”.
