ABOUT ME ANDREA ESTELA BELTRĂ N LORETO Hello! I am a student of architecture, wanting to gain work experience in the area of design and construction. My passion is the voleibol, do exercise, yoga and the nature.
HOTEL Sana Sana is a hotel in Costa Rica that proposes a new form of traveling based on the deep exloration of the natural environments. This hotel offers the opportunity to contemplate nature, by giving the approach to nature in it´s original form. The aim of the hotel is to reconnect the guests though the interaction of senses, emotions and physical activities
Private Location Located in Playa Punta Uva, a private area 5 kilometers away from Manzanillo, next to Quebrada Ernesto River.
Natural Approach The project aims to conserve 100% of the trees in the site, which generates a link between the guest and nature through the simplicity of the design and the materials used for it’s development.
Infrastructure & Routes Each of the 38 rooms include green roofs which reduce the radiation that the building undergoes as well as the cooling costs by saving energy. The vegetation in these private orchards act as extra insulation for the space; as well as rainwater harvesting by filtering the water of the soils to be later used for the proposed landscape.
Water Plan & Landscape The plan involves adapting with the water flow to reduce flooding; by providing an artificial lagoon, where water streams lead to.The proposed landscape consists of aromatic and edible plants, positioned in a central area where the irrigation progress of the water plan concludes.
Existing Landscape Located in a tropical forest ecosystem, which is composed of multiple layers of semi-deciduous vegetation species. Some of the trees in the designated area include Laurels, Coral Oaks, Bread nuts, Evergreens, and Big-Leaf Mahoganies. Zones of relative calm are provided by creating a controlled air flow in the windward side; through the height of the trees and the moist ambiance.
Apothecary & laboratories. Natural pharmacy and laboratories to create local medicine, by having glass walls to view the process medicines that undergo.
Reception area: Apothecary, offices, laboratories and lobby.
Mind Master Suite. Include a meditation space inside the rooms to relax.
Body Junior Suite. Embrace nature’s sounds, inside the bedroom, in order to attain a relaxed state of mind.
Water Plan Due to the proximity of the site to the river Querada Ernesto, the project adapts any possible flood theats where the water flow is redirected to it’s natural course
Room Orientation.
Strategic orientation to take advantage of natural lighting in the precise needed time. Mind rooms are facing east in order to wake up with the morning sunlight and Body rooms are oriented facing west to provide late afternoon light when it is mostly needed.
Natural Ventilation
Cooling down of room by natural means, through crossed air flow by inlet and outlet openings by the use of windows and doors. As well as a height of 2.80 meters from floor to ceiling to improve ventilation.
Rainwater harvesting.
Capture rainwater through rooftops and topography of site, to supply water and guide it to the proposed landscape vegetation; in order to allow self-reliance of plant irrigation.
