4.8.1 ECU SOFTWARE The software loaded must be specific for the Electronic Control Unit (ECU). Functions must be easily identifiable in the field using a lap top computer to verify software and data stored. ANDRA is aware that this will be limited to the integrity of the manufacturers, and trust that this will not be an issue. Flashing of ECUâs is permitted. Manufacturer software must not be re-coded or altered in any way from manufacturerâs original source coding.
4.8.2 ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNITS The following is specific to Group 2 (cars and motorcycles) that allow EFI in the Class Regulations. ECUs permitted for use will only control fuel and ignition relative to preset engine conditions, and must not allow the use of traction control or any other function that can alter the performance of a vehicle that is a reaction to any event that takes place during a run. Every function, tuning or otherwise of any ECU used must be preset prior to the run. Closed loop functions, Reactive controls (including traction control or slew rate ignition control) are not allowed in any form. Closed loop functions which use drivetrain, suspension or g-force as an input are prohibited. Any type of traction-control device (see definition), electronic or mechanical, is prohibited. Competitors engine / data loggers may be viewed by ANDRA Officials at any time. Open loop two step operation is permitted in some classes, refer to class regulations. All ECUâs must use a MAP sensor that is calibrated and locked out (nonadjustable). All wiring to the MAP sensor is to be exposed for its full length and may not be included in any other wiring loom. Data from accelerometers, motion detectors, wheel speed sensors, suspension travel sensors cannot to be communicated to the ECU. Wiring of any ECU must be fully visible and traceable by the ANDRA Officials. â NOTE:â No reactive functions allowed, All functions must be preset before the run. â NOTE:â Street registered vehicles built after December 2012 will require ESC (Electronic Stability Control) fitted as mandatory under ADR (Australian Design Rules), vehicles meeting this requirement will be acceptable in ANDRA street classes not exceeding 10.00 seconds (1/4 mile) or equivalent. Vehicles meeting these requirements will not be considered to have any performance advantage over vehicles that do not have ESC as standard.
4.8.3 COMPUTER Except where class regulations permit the use of reactive equipment such as RPM, pressure, fuel, vehicle management functions, or timer activated devices (which must be pre-set before a run), no vehicle may be equipped with a data processing device (electronic, electrical, mechanical or other), that analyses any function of vehicle operation during a run, and effects any direct adjustment or limit. No vehicle may have any function operated remotely from outside the vehicle. Traction control prohibited.
