HIKING TRAILS

01. Berrypicker Trail

A local favorite, Berrypicker Trail hikes up Vail Mountain to Eagle’s Nest from Lionshead Village. The trail steeply winds through meadows of wildflowers (which are the ski runs during winter), aspen groves, and pine stands. The hike is often done as a one-way with help from the Eagle Bahn Gondola taking the return journey. 2.0 miles in, the trail meanders through another meadow offering brilliant views of the Gore Range across from Vail Mountain. This view ranks high on the list of best places to see the Gore Range in Vail.

02. Booth Lake Trail

03. Piney Lake Trail

Located approximately 11 miles north of Vail, Piney Lake Trail allows hikers to explore the sublime beauty of the White River National Forest. The trailhead at Piney Lake provides access to stunning alpine meadows, untouched wilderness, and the shimmering Piney Lake. This moderately challenging trail offers the chance to spot wildlife like moose, deer, and a variety of bird species.

Adventurous hikers seeking more challenging terrain will find Booth Lake Trail to be an invigorating choice. The trail ascends steeply through impressive pine forests, offering panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. The reward at the end is the pristine Booth Lake, a secluded gem tucked away in a majestic alpine setting.
