Transferring to Anderson University is not only an important step in meeting your goals… it’s easy! We’ve designed it this way so you can focus on your future. This guide outlines your process from application to enrollment. We understand the prospect of transferring can be daunting. So, AU’s admission, financial aid and academic advisors strive to help make your transition a smooth one.

Apply for Admission We are pleased that you are considering applying to Anderson University. Our admission committee reviews application materials thoughtfully and thoroughly. We look forward to receiving your application and getting to know you. You may apply at any time once you’ve started college. Here are the priority dates: Fall Semester: July 1st Spring Semester: November 1st


If you have 24 or more transferrable credits 1) Apply online at www.andersonuniversity.edu 2) Send official transcripts from all colleges attended

Admission Requirements: Earn a minimum cumulative collegiate GPA of at least a 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, and be in good academic standing at all institutions you’ve attended. Note: A maximum of 64 transferrable credits from any regionally accredited two-year college transfer program. Candidates for a Bachelor’s degree must earn a minimum of 36 semester hours at Anderson University, including at least 15 hours of upper-division credit in their major.

Admission Requirements: Earn a minimum cumulative collegiate GPA of at least a 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, and be in good academic standing at all institutions you’ve attended. Meet the freshmen admission requirements. As a transfer student, it is your responsibility to ensure all materials arrive in the Office of Admission. It is up to you to request transcripts, test scores or other materials. Transcripts may take 2 to 3 weeks to arrive at the university; request your materials early! Some majors at AU are competitive and have additional requirements.

What credits will transfer? Typically, 7-10 days after you are accepted, you will receive a transfer evaluation report via your personal AU email. This is a list of all courses that transfer to the university. Please read this report carefully! Here are some reasons why courses may or may not transfer: • • • •

The course work was not completed at a regionally accredited institution The grade earned was lower than a “C” The courses are developmental, remedial or vocational in nature Prior GPA does not transfer to AU

Anderson University reserves the right to determine whether any particular course meets the requirements and standards of the University for transfer. Although the course may transfer, it may not apply directly to a particular major or program.


Visiting Campus A campus visit is the best way to see if Anderson University is right for you. Plan your visit and discover all that AU has to offer. We look forward to showcasing our quality academic programs, modern campus facilities and active student life. A campus visit includes an overview of Anderson University, a campus tour led by a current AU student and an admission and financial aid session with the Transfer Coordinator. Transfer visits are offered every Tuesday at 1:15 pm and Friday at 9:15 am.

It’s important for you to make connections and meet people at Anderson University. There are many ways to get involved on campus. Paying for your Education Don’t let misconceptions about cost keep you from attaining the quality college education you deserve. Anderson is committed to helping qualified students achieve their educational goals. We encourage you to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to determine any assistance that may be available. You can complete the online application by visiting www.fafsa.org as early as January 1. Please be sure to include our school code (003418) on the FAFSA so we will receive your application. The priority date for applying is March 1, though it is never too late to apply. The office of Financial Aid can provide information and advice concerning federal and state loans, grants and part-time employment. Scholarships and Grants Federal Aid • Pell Grant: Award varies (Maximum award is $5,550 per year). Available to students who meet financial need, based on FAFSA

Institutional Aid • Transfer Scholarship: $6,000 per year Available to transfer students with a minimum 3.0 college GPA •T ransfer Grant: $5,000 per year Available to transfer students with a college GPA below 3.0 •A U Phi Theta Kappa Honors: $1,000 per year; five awards per year Available to students who are U.S. citizens, have a minimum 3.5 GPA, and have earned 30 semester hours •O ut-of-State Grant: $3,000 per year Available to any out-of-state entering transfer student • Residential Grant: $1,500 per year Available to any transfer student living in campus housing • South Carolina School of the Arts and Athletic Scholarships: Amounts vary. Financial Aid for Residents of South Carolina Palmetto Fellows Scholarship: $6,700 freshmen year; $7,500 each following year Available to entering transfer students who have been selected as a Palmetto Fellow by the SC Commission on Higher Education. Students must earn 30 cumulative hours per academic year and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0 to renew award. • Life Scholarship: $5,000

Available to South Carolina residents who maintain a 3.0 college GPA and complete 30 credits or more per year • SC State Tuition Grant: Award varies (Maximum award is $2,900 per year). Available to students who meet financial need, based on FAFSA

Payment plan and fees are billed by semester for Fall and Spring terms. Twelve or more credit hours are considered full-time for undergraduates. You have the option of enrolling in an Anderson University payment plan each Fall and Spring term to spread out your tuition and fees, on-campus housing, dining and other charges billed to your student account into several small payments that best meets your needs.




Next Steps 1. After being admitted to Anderson University, you will receive an acceptance packet providing you with valuable information that will guide you through the registration process. This packet will contain your AU student ID number, as well as your new AU student email (the official method of communication) that you will need to complete the next steps. 2. View your Transfer Evaluation Report via your AU student email. Your Transfer Evaluation Report will show exactly which courses transferred to AU and the credits that you received for those courses. 3. Be sure to send updated transcripts of you completed courses after being admitted. This will ensure that you have the most up-to-date transfer credit evaluation possible when classes start. 4. Submit the Enrollment Confirmation Form and $250 deposit when you are ready to commit to attending the university. 5. Make a class schedule. Transfer students must contact the dean of their college to schedule an advising appointment. If you are unable to come to campus for an advising session your dean will make alternative arrangements when you call. 6. Apply for Financial Aid 7. Attend the Transfer New Student Orientation. Orientation is required for all new transfers. This is your time to meet other transfer students, meet with an advisor and receive general guidance to help you transition to Anderson University.
