This course is designed to enhance the reading and writing skills of creative writers and presupposes writing experience in ENG 315 or ENG 316. This course is required for Creative Writing majors. The class focuses on developing clear thinking, organization, and reasoning in response to something about which we rarely analyze extensively: the movies. More importantly, we will examine also just as thoroughly the original sources of these films—short fiction, novels, and plays. As a foundation for analysis, students will develop a vocabulary for discussing film and integrate it into their discussion of how the two genres are related.
