M y number one thing I look for when I

design a page is negative space. To examine what needs to be placed you also have to see what surrounds your subject. A well made composition starts with positive and negative blocking. Once I figure out how busy the page is with negative space everything starts to line up. The atmosphere and emotion of the art piece or page becomes a reality.

M

y number two choice for when I am designing a layoutor page is formatting a color scheme. Contrast and similarity are two very important stylization choices for a graphic designer. The correct choice of a scheme will evoke the right emotion you want to convey for your product. Colors are globally known for different things so choosing the right ones for a client or business are crucial for the designer.

My third most important factor when creating or designing something is to have diversity. Diversity helps distinguish you from other trends or graphic designers and could really help create a stand out career. For me, inspiration comes from a lot of different places, so I imagine all types of original color schemes, layout compositions and typographic formats that truly stand out from the competition. First and foremost, I see myself as an artist. Graphic design and llustrations are a way for my creativity to meet my career driven future. Diversity helps me understand what is new and modern, while still havng a professional atmosphere.

Choosing a type face is one aspect of being a designer that defines a whole piece. I like to examine all different types of text and fonts before choosing one. A sans serif has a type of look while a serif type face has a whole different look. Text defines what the piece feels like. The atmosphere will revolve around the type of text you choose. As a modern graphic designer, I tend to stay in the area of futuristic and minimal typefaces to let the piece speak on its own. I want my future job as a designer to be consumed with typefaces, so just examining the world around me gives me plenty of inspiration for my own work.

As a designer I aspire to go many places and impact the design world in a new and original way. In the autumn I will be studying abroad in the Czech Republic, specifically Prague. I am looking forward to creating all kinds of relationships as well as learn things that will help me become a better designer. The sky is the limit and I truly am a global individual when it comes to my future. Networking is one of my strongest things I do socially so I can’t wait to graduate and travel to all kinds of new places as a graphic designer.
