Bellavista Community Centre Type and Year: Competition: New building - 2016 Situation: Santander. Spain Collaboration: A1 Arquitectos. César Córdoba. Sergio Córdoba The project is about a community center, a social building which offers cultural activities to the residents in Cueto quarter in Santander. Due to the nature of the area and the irregularity of the plot, as well as, the differences between bordering buildings, the project idea is based on rectangular properties of bordering fields, as a urban strategy to recover the original morfology and nature of the area. Following those premises, the project is formed by two rectangular boxes with north orientation. Both face each other creating in this way a little square between them, which allows the connection between two access to the same plot, Bellavista street and Sport pavilion. These boxes are opened to that enclosed area, in order to benefit the main building from orientation. However, boxes are closed on their opposite sides, resolving in this way the complex relation with the surrounding buildings. The second box conteins the coffee shop, which promotes square and center purposes beyond formative activities. On the other side, roofs reinforce the idea of recovering natural areas. They are built as green roofs where urban gardens are planted, encouraging the interaction between neighbours and used as a support for activities linked with gardening and enviroment research. Besides the idea of recovering the original area esence, we seek to provide more functionalities to the building to complete it and adjust to resident's current interests. Finally, we strongly bear bioclimatic strategies in mind, both orientations and constructive solution details.

Centre for Cinematographic Knowledge Diffusion. New seminci headquarters Type and Year: Restoration - 2015 Final Degree Project Situation: Valladolid. Spain This is a restoration for a university's industrial unit made of brick which was a jute fabric in origin. It is located in the middle of the campus university, so its use is linked to cultural activities. Due to cinematographic culture trajectory of Valladolid city, it is contemplated to concentrate in only one building the activities and entities most relevant in this scope. On one hand the SEMINCI Headquarters, which is a film festival that is becoming popular at national and international level and it doesn't count with a representative headquarters so far. To give continuity to the building's use during all the year and not limit it to a short period whilst the festival lasts, it is also considered to include the Film Commission's office in and give Film lessons by the university, supplying in this way more diffusion nature to the building. Because of the surface and building's own conditions, as well as its relation with surroundings, the project is resolved by full and empty spaces, giving importance to the existing brick wall. The programma is developed in boxes which emerge attached to the outside wall perimeter and separated to the inside perimeter, where it is also produced empty spaces generating situations that give interest and value to the brick wall. It is interesting to experiment what happens with areas which were indoors before and they are outdoors now, and vice versa. About the relation with its surroundings, because of its own diffusion nature, the building is projected to the city and the existing wall is perfored allowing way across it, making it more permeable and with new itineraries.

Energy Museum. Testar Windmill Restoration Type and Year: Restoration - 2016 Situation: Paterna (Valencia). Spain Collaboration: Laura Reglero. Pablo Tomás Zamora The project is about a restoration of the old Testar windmill in Paterna (Valencia), replacing its original use by other new, as Energy Museum. The design is developed based on series of 'skins' folded around existent walls. The idea is to have big open spaces delimited by these elements which defind the layout and create furniture according to the programma, in a way that one same element becomes both walls and furniture. We also bring the building back to the original stage erasing all the divisions which fragmented the space, making it stand in its esence. Covering only its robust load bearing walls by light skins allowing free viewings of the museum exhibition which includes its old mill mechanism. This way of intervention is respectful with the past, present and future, because it is understood as a reversible intervention that could be completely deleted and replaced in case of new use changes, being a bit or almost none aggressive with the existing building. Systems play an essential role in the design as part of the museum exhibition, in order that visitors could enjoy and learn about how to take advantages of renewable energies and sources existing in the surroundings. None of the elements are secondary: is only added the essential to rebuild the space and take advantages of natural resources by means of simple solutions. The objective is getting the maximum profit from architectural passive solutions, in order to reduce building's water and energy bills.
23
DESIGN ELEMENTS Foldable skin Wooden sheeds from local areas to form closings and furniture. These are respectful elements with the existing building, highlighting the building identity and memory and encouraging recycling construction waste and local craftworks craftworks.
Wooded area Little square with Valencian native trees, orange trees, forming a platform over the ditch adding trees extra space to the backyard and profiting from the location to bring freshness from the water and shadow from the trees, very convenient in a very hot and sunny Spanish area. The tree pots are big boxes used as outdoor seating and working as pilars to the platform. They also keep watered by the ditch, self-sufficient system, system reducing the maintenance to cero.
Porticoed backyard Freestanding porticos cover the backyard and throw shadow over it. They have a double water circuite system: one on top exposed to the sun conforming a heating coil using natural resourses to heat water and the second one on the bottom with some perforation where cold water is pulverised to the yard during warm days cooling it down down. Besides at the end of the first circuit there is a turbine, which produces energy from the water fall.

Tabacalera Community Centre Type and Year: Restoration - 2016 Location: Santander. Spain Collaboration: A1 Arquitectos. César Córdoba. Sergio Córdoba This project is about the Tabacalera's Deposit restoration in Santander, a building which housed the old offices and tobacco warehouse. It is a DoCoMoMo building, abandoned and in constant deterioration nowadays, hence an urgent intervention is considered, changing its original use for a new one as a community centre. Due to its historical nature and building protection the intervention tries to be minimun preserving its original essence, its racionalist industrial warehouse image. The carrying structure is considered the main distinguishing and characteristic interior element so its visibility is strengthened. For this purpose, floors are kept open allowing furniture to configure the space, always trying to find the intervention flexible and reversible. We design spaces whose reading is complete, nothing disturbs them, plan boxes do not touch upper floor planks and the divisions are made by acustic curtains which allows to have individual classrooms or a group of them depends on capacity necessities. Outside, facades appearance are kept, so it is possible to read clearly the original building. It will be tried to make an obvious difference between the intervention and current original building remains to the extend possible, all of this withouth affecting significant Tabacalera deposit values and image that neighbourhood has about it. Because of the programma and taking advantage of the necessity of restoring the roof, it is installed a new grandstand-roof, providing roof a new use and taking advantage of its privileged situation in front of the Santander bay with views towards Cantabrica Range as well. As an element of urban suture emerges a big lantern corresponding with vertical communications which at the same time is an energy and natural light captator introducing them inside the building, and resolve the existent and very visible dividing wall, working as well as a poster, reinforzing the iconic building character.

Starting from brand global guidelines but adapting to UK and franchise's requirements and needs, we have being working for two years to develop BK prime design all over the country with the approval of the global design team. It was a tedious but interesting way through, trying to pull down the budget as low as possible without compromising the standards for the brand, working very close to contractors, PMs and suppliers.

IKEA Roomset: Kitchen with dining area Location: Dining area - IKEA Wembley Date: May 2018 Style expression: Scandinavian modern Price level: Medium price Working as Interior designer for a furniture brand is quite interesting. Besides designing the roomsets following certain styles and make them look great you need to clearly show the most of the furniture, so it is a combination of skills, both desinging and selling. Due to you do not have one only client to focus on the design, as part of the creative process you need to build stories about the roomsets to give some personality and make the design and decorations match with it. This kitchen is designed for a couple in their thirties with two children in a three bedroom flat in Hampstead Head. It is a bohemian couple who bets on sustainability. They also like spending time with their children doing art and crafts, specially works with fabrics. To match the character of the kitchen with this life style, all the materials chosen are natural and sustainable: wood, leather, rattan, cork, fabric, recycled wood and recycled PET bottles. in such a way that the kitchen really reflects the personality of the family.

IKEA Roomset: Dining room Location: Dining area - IKEA Wembley Date: December 2017 Style expression: Popular modern Price level: Medium/High price Working as Interior designer for a furniture brand is quite interesting. This dining room is for a single business man. He works with properties and he normally spends a lot of time outside and eating in restaurants. He is very interested in travelling and he is a cocktail lover, so he likes to use his dining room as a place to make business while he can impress his colleagues with some cocktails, but also, for romantic dates. He likes sofistication and a modern style, so that's why the materials chosen are glass, concrete effect, golden touches, velvet textiles, a cow skin... A dining room with character reflecting the owner expectations.
