Youth Track and Field

The 2018 youth track and field program is tentatively scheduled to take place starting in April (after spring break.) In this program kids will have the opportunity to learn about sprinting, mid-distance and distance running, long jump, high jump, shot-put, discus, and javelin in a fun and exciting atmosphere.
Sunset Loop 10-mile Relay Run
Boys and girls in 1st - 6th grade will have the opportunity to participate. The program will conclude in May with an actual track meet where ribbons will be handed out. Registration will be available on our website starting in March. Please visit the Anacortes Parks and Recreation Youth Programs web page at www.anacorteswa.gov to stay informed on the status of the youth track and field program.
Start forming your teams now or start training to run it solo. The 2018 Sunset Loop 10-mile Relay Run event will take you over an undulating paved course. Each leg of the run is 2-1/2 miles through beautifully forested Washington Park. During the run there are many views of the water and islands that surround the park. Teams register together, or if you are courageous enough to try it by yourself you can register to do the entire run solo. Two and three person teams are also welcome, but you’ll still have to run the entire 10 miles. There are several team divisions to choose from. Kids Holiday Craft Class Enjoy the morning by making some magnificent holiday projects, decorating holiday cookies and perhaps make a last minute holiday gift. Parents drop your kids off for this class and enjoy some free time! LOCATION: Sunrise Room, Senior Center INSTRUCTOR: Nicole Johnston MIN/MAX: 7/20 FEE: $12 per child AGES K-5th Grade

Get a “kick” out of this program! This is a great opportunity to get out on the field with your toddler. We will go through basic soccer drills, basketball drills and burn off some energy and most importantly have loads of fun. Parent/ Guardian participation is REQUIRED and needed to assist the child through the different activities and drills. Individual Fee: $20 w/shirt $10 w/out shirt. Participants must pre-register in order to guarantee they receive their shirt by event day. Pre-registrations due by Friday, February 23.

Messy Me is a perfect class for you and your child to get Messy! Come each week to do different art projects that will include, but not limited to stamping, painting, gluing, shaving cream sculpting and many more messy projects. At the end of the class we will have circle time, sings songs and get your kids moving. The best part is that we do all the cleaning up! Space is limited, so sign up early!
