Libraries Transform Torn between book club and happy hour? Why not do both? Gather round as we make a toast and take a look back at the first year of Stout Stories. Stout Stories is a hopping JCPL book club for adults 21 and older that meets at local breweries and wineries the first Monday of every month. Locations have included Taxman, Planetary Brewing, Scotty’s Brew Club, Shale Creek, Mashcraft, Shallo’s and Mallow Run Winery. “Stout Stories has really grown as a group, no longer is it just library patrons meeting together to discuss books. Every person has something to contribute to the conversation and it’s wonderful to see friendships grow and strengthen over our bond for books,” said Erin Cataldi, JCPL Librarian. Each month the group gets together in a laid back atmosphere and has dynamic conversations about the selected books. “Every month, I look forward to our conversations. I have always loved my job and my community, but Stout Stories has made me feel more invested than I ever thought possible,” said Keeley Payne, JCPL Librarian. “People have really started to come out of their shells and open up; I couldn’t ask for a greater meeting of the minds,” adds Erin. Join JCPL librarians Erin Cataldi and Keeley Payne for this monthly book club. Whether you’re a milleni-”ale” or an older “vintage,” come out and meet like-minded individuals. Together we’ll put the “pub” in public library! Check out page 25 for upcoming dates and details. Be sure to pick up a copy of the book from your local library. Cheers!
