Weldon T. “Bucky” Stewart, Triathlete, Cyclist & Runner 57, Wells Fargo Advisors Managing Director of Investments

My first triathlon was in 1994, Mighty Mite and Memphis in May. I also do one at my house every Fourth of July, a sprint triathlon. I started running marathons in ‘94 and have done 17 total. My claim to fame was passing “P-diddy” Sean Combs in Central Park at the NYC Marathon. I’m a member of the Memphis Hightailers. My favorite ride is the Mellow Mushroom Tuesday ride. Great bunch of guys. I love the focus it takes in endurance sports during the race because there are always issues. Also like the process of getting there. I stay fit because it makes me a better me—a husband, father, neighbor, and friend. My inspirations are Lance Armstrong and Greg Lemond. I’m training for the Half IRONMAN here in Memphis in October.

“I stay fit because it makes me a better me.” Most recent hardship is breaking a bone in my neck last year. Also, a dislocated shoulder, ACL surgery, and a completely ruptured Achilles. I love to travel with my family to Ireland and Montana for fly fishing. My favorite restaurant in Memphis is La Hacienda for the chicken soup.

Motorcycle riding and my faith are my passions.

My spirit animal is the honey badger. He is always on the move and seizes the day.

My splurging is taking my wife wherever she wants to go to eat. Also bicycles, I have five.

My favorite quote is, “You can’t hoot with the owls and soar with the eagles in the morning.”
