“BLUE BANDED BEE CANOPY-HIVE” Utilising the potential of Grasshopper extension of Rhinoceros, a bee’s hibernation hive is built in conjunction with the annual Shadow Electric festival (winter edition) as a canopy installation. Contextual influences (ie. Wind direction, heat output direction) directs the parametric input used for the design in Grasshopper. Individual element of the canopy-hive was prototyped to industrial standard utilising 3d print, laser cut and steel cutting to test out the connection joint, its durability & functionality.

“CONSTRUCTION DESIGN” The work focuses on the evaluation and selection of implementation alternatives for built project example. By modelling and detailing a section of the building in 2D drawing & physical 3D model, connection between construction solutions and design intent & industrial context are established.

“ R E V I TA L I S I N G G A R I B O N G ” 2 Hyper Agency | Aleksandar Bursac & Soomeen HAHM TheUnit visiting studio explores the theme of ‘social algorithm’ in the aims of revitalising the town of Garibong. The unit of narrated cityAAfocuses on ‘people-oriented’ SpaceStream | Mengying LI. Zhen SHAN. Shaoru WANG & Wenjian YANG VS Seoul 2017 Social Algorithms 5.0 | Yonsei University 1 /2 design. We open a dialogue with the people of the town through interviews on site, before engaging on quantitative data to create a ‘box of chocolates’ of solutions & ideas. These ideas were created by the group in response to the qualitative and quantitative data collected with aims of reinvigorating the area, encouraging communication and interaction between the residents and outsider’s intervention. These ideas were then articulated and packaged into a mockup website of how the whole operation could be run if it were to be properly funded and conducted.
